I just noticed the seemingly fairly large microsurfacing project in the maplewood leaflet. Personally I was fairly disappointed with the results on our street, which had this about a year ago.

Firstly ,we live on one of the steeper (but not steepest) hills in town. It seemed like the surfacing slipped a day or two after it was laid and formed bumps all down the road. I guess this is positive as it discourages traffic speeding down the street but negative for property values.

Lookwise, it initially looked good, but over time has degraded. The surface has peeled away wherever there is an area that gets a lot of water on it. It's still better than the road looked before, but not much better and it was pretty awful before.

I'm just wondering if the town has carefully inspected the results and considered the value/cost of this. Also, I am wondering what others in town think of the results.

The micro surfacing was horrendous in my area. People complained, nothing happened. There are 2-8 inch seams about 3 feet out from the curb on both sides of the streets. Also, it's been a year and they have yet to put back in the crosswalks. Should I be surprised? Thanks TC! You guys are the best!

Great to know that my outrageous taxes are being spent outrageously. I got a notice on my front door today alerting me that my street, Woodland, will be microsurfaced tomorrow, Sunday. There's a church on the street, so presumably the parking will be impossible. That should be fun.

Is it possible that they'll actually work on a Sunday and block the church?

Well, it's Sunday morning at 9:30 and there is no work going on. I guess Asphalt Paving Systems Inc put the generic "next day" message on our doors Saturday because they don't work Sunday. Thank God.
