Does anyone know if the town will be offering Flu shots, as they did last year?

Fran

The schedule is posted on the Townships website -- the first date is Oct 20 --9 am, and there are about 4 more dates after that.

In case those don't work for whatever reason, I noticed a sign in the Millburn CVS today that said they were doing flu shots on October 18th from 10:00 - 2:00. I think I've seen similar notices at other drugstores in the area also.

Note that, according to today's news, nearly half of the expected vaccine supply will not be available (Chiron screwed up manufacturing, and is not expected to ship any doses).

According to today's articles, the CDC may be asking many of us to skip/delay vaccines until the highest need cases are taken care of. Not sure what impact this will have on the various town and corporate programs.

Is this flu shot free, or do those who get it have to pay for it?

Based on the shortage of flu shots, I think it would seem unlikely the town will have 4 dates for the shots. Especially since the CDC has already asked for self-imposed rations.

Taylor:

Best bet is to check with the Health Department at Town Hall. They can tell you whether any changes have been made in schedule/availability for the flu shots as a result of recent developments which significantly reduced the amount of flu vaccine available this year.

For information on cost and whether you need an appointment to receive the shot, check the town website.

The Town said today that there's no flu shots this year due to the shortage of vaccine.

CVS on Milburn Ave has a sign on the door saying all flu shots are cancelled until further notice due to the shortage.

Just the aunt: I hope you are already feeling better. It's awfully early in the season for the flu so you might want to check with your doctor to make sure it isn't something else with similar symptoms.

Update.

The Township has a supply of flu shots that may go to waste if not used. The supply is here and can be used by all.

Call the health Dept for the location.

Thanks George. I agree with Just Me. This is important enough to have its own thread. It would be especially helpful if you could post a contact name and number for those who may not know how to contact the health department.
