Has anybody received their 4th quarter tax bill?
It's due in about 2 weeks and I haven't seen it.

This bill is supposedly going to correct the 3rd quarter overcharge. Anybody hear anything about it?

Not here yet.

Then again, I suspect you are searching for your contact lens in the light, where it's easier to look, rather than where you lost it.

Oh, it's an old joke.

Woman finds man in kitchen. "What are you doing?"

Man: "Looking for my contact lens."

Woman: "I can help. Do you remember approximately where you lost it?"

Man: "In the living room."

Woman: "Then why are you looking here in the kitchen?"

Man: "The light is better here."

In other words, the asking is easier here on MOL, but the answer is likely to be somewhere else.

Remember that the third and fourth quarter bills include the increases for the first and second quarter bills as well. This is because the budgets are not finalized in time.

Just got ours yesterday.

Did a little math. Our property taxes have tripled (up 200%) in the fourteen years we have lived here.

During that same time, the cost of living has increased roughly 55%, compounded.

The quality of services we receive has remained roughly the same.

So, could someone please explain why my local tax load has doubled in real terms?

Simple to fix , take the school portion of the bill & divid it evenly over all the ratables . Forget the new police station & cut the amount of administration in the school system. Or better still Chris , your taxes are up 200% because you live on the West side of town. We break away from the East side & SO and form our own town .Let's call it West Ridge & join Union Co..

Some good ideas, jet. I disagree with breaking up the town, but I love the idea of cutting the educracy.

My fourth quarter bill is $300 less than my third quarter bill. Is this typical? I rather expected this, since the town admitted they made a high miscalculation last quarter.

Tom: The fourth quarter is lower to adjust for the third quarter overpayment. Everyone's bill is that way.
