Jerry, Are we to assume that the town is looking for volunteers for the openings shown on the Boards and Committees section of the agenda? Are the seats filled by invitation, or by request from local residents? Is the Historic Preservation and Econmoic Development Advisory committees already closed? If so, who are the current members of these two committees? Also, who chooses the new members of these committees, the committee chairs, or the members of the township committee? |

Are we to assume that the town is looking for volunteers for the openings shown on the Boards and Committees section of the agenda? Are the seats filled by invitation, or by request from local residents? *****The Township is always looking for volunteers for all committees and boards. There are volunteer forms at the libraries, town hall and the train station. The Township Committee looks at the volunteer pool when making appointments. Sometimes there are invitations to join a committee to make sure that the committee reflects the make-up of the community. Is the Historic Preservation and Econmoic Development Advisory committees already closed? If so, who are the current members of these two committees? *****These two committees are not closed. The Township Committee is still discussing the appointments to them. It is likely but not definite that the appointments will be made on January 1st. Also, who chooses the new members of these committees, the committee chairs, or the members of the township committee? *****Township Committee |

Jerry, Thanks again for your insight and help last night. Mayor DeLuca, I will get you my resume after the holiday weekend for consideration of committee apointments. Have a great Thanksgiving all! Best wishes, Darren Sager |

I tried to watch some of the meeting last night on 35 but, once again, the sound was all fuzz. Has anyone looked into this problem? |

Since the question of "volunteers" for town committee has been raised, I wonder if there are any positions that pay a "stipend" or at least "expenses". Also, how much are the elected TC members remunerated/reimbursed? |

Ed: There are no volunteer positions that pay a stipend. Members of some boards (Planning Board and Board of Adjustment come to mind) can take training classes that the Township pays for. There are appointed positions that pay a salary: township attorney, township judge, prosecutor, public defenders, board of adjustment counsel, planning board counsel. Township committee members are paid a salary of $3858 per year, a number that has remained unchanged for the 8 years that there has been a democratic majority on the TC. (FYI after taxes and mandatory state pension contributions, for me this comes to $129.34 every two weeks). Members expenses for classes and seminars are reimbursed. All of these numbers (salaries, seminar fees, etc) are in the budget. Jerry Ryan |
