The News Record has a front page photo touting the return of plastics recycling for Maplewood, but zero information about it that I could find. Anyone know the details?

As iof Feb 1, you can bring #1 & 2 plastics to the recycling center on Boyden. There is a new bin for them.(I believe the town is renting/buying a "smushing machine" as my 5yo calls it for the plastics) There is no curbside pickup for plastic.

You can also bring household batteries there, too.

As stated by 'hismom' and the 1/27/05 edition of the News-Record, recycling of #1 and #2 plastics began again at our Department of Public Works at 359 Boyden Avenue (M-F: 9-3, excluding major holidays; Sat: 9-12). Please discard the cap, rinse the container and squish it a bit. As of noon today, I heard that the 30 foot bin was just about full!

Household battery bins are also available. Public Works staff will take them to the county battery collection site twice a year.

Both plastics' recycling and household battery disposal are provided at no cost and are recycled from Public Works - not at your curb.

Read more about recycling on the Township website at http://twp.maplewood.nj.us/ Or, call Public Works at 973-762-1175.
