grw...thanks for posting this...also included in the parade will be over 200 girls from the M-SO Softball Program...so thats around 1400 kids from both communities combined...in uniform. Should be fun to watch.

Pizzaz suggested that a contingent of MOL regulars march in the parade. Anyone know if this is going to happen?

Isn't it really just supposed to be the kids and their coaches?

Joan: Is Bunny's sponsoring a Little League team?
Otherwise, if, as you say, it was a Pizzaz suggestion, I suspect it was a humorous one. If it was't meant in jest, I'd have to say it sounds like a rather hamhanded attempt to exploit a kid-based event for (dare I whisper it?) political exposure.

...But I think John must be smarter than that, don't you?

-s.

BTW: I bet he was in Little League when he was a kid!

No! No! NO! Please MOL posters do NOT march in this parade. It's for the kids, not us. Now, there is nothing that says we can't have our own parade some other Saturday!

Coaches ALWAYS march. Sponsors, random adults, and political opportunists should NOT. It's a KID thing.

-s.

BTW: I think it's great that S.O. & Mplwd are finally united at the Little League Level. The next step (unless it's already been accomplished) ought to be the total "integration" of teams (selection without regard to home town), which will further strengthen the program, and provide a uniform "farm" system for more senior-level leagues, and (of course) the CHS teams...

Soda - Accomplished, but not intentionally. Players are drafted only on the basis of their ability, not which town they live in.

The team my nephews play on has players from both South Orange and Maplewood. Boys and girls. From what I understand, a new system was created to make the teams more equally matched.

My nephews have a great and fair coach who treats all the players the same. So far they've won all their games! Not looking forward to their first loss!

The parade was great. I took the liberty of having a team picture taken.

You may view the picture on my homepage.
