This evening I received an automated telephone poll call on the Maplewood Election. I didn't respond and highly objected to this invasion of my privacy. I know this type of activity is done for national and major state elections, but I think such an operation is out of place in a local election. Since my sense is that this poll was not paid for by the State or County Democratic Committee, I can only assume that one of the candidates or campaign committees authorized or approved it and paid for it. I sent an email to each of the Maplewood candidates asking who was responsible for this.

Did anyone else get this call or know who's responsible for this effort?

I got a call yesterday asking me which two of the three candidates for democratic nomination for TC I would vote for if the primary election were held that day. The pollster was not happy when I said that I intended to vote for the best two of the three candidates and refused to identify which two I thought met this definition at this point in the campaign.

This may be a drift...but with all this polling going on...and even some door to door visits happening....

Do candidates have access to the voters' party affilliations? Do they know things such as, the guy who lives on 2X Tuscan St is a registered dem, and the guy next to him is a registered repub?

Rick, yes they do. Voter registration information is public record and so are records showing which elections you voted in or not. Your District Leader probably has such a list.

DK, the easy answer is "all". :-) There are apparently two polls being conducted. I am going to go way out on a limb and say that it is unlikely that one side or another did both.

Thanks Bob K. Can you satisfy my curiousity when I ask whereabouts this information can be found?
