Is there an Independent Party in Maplewood? If so, what is the history behind it? Thanks.

I don't think so, but I think we should form an MOL party. |

There is a state party called the Independent Party. I don't think it is very active and certainly not in Maplewood. Confusion comes up because registered voters who have not declared a party affiliation often refer to themselves as "independents" and from time to time someone runs for office without a party affiliation as an "independent". Voters who aren't affiliated with a party and called "unaffiliated" (kinda logical) and can vote in party primaries. However, by so doing they become members of that party and if they want to reclaim "unaffiliated status" they have to file a form. |

Right-o, Bob - so if someone has registered as "Independent" instead of unaffiliated, that voter will not be permitted to cast a ballot in the D or R primaries. |
