The Star Ledge has these results printed

DeLuca 1,904
Grodman 2,219
Profeta 1,717

Could this be correct?

Oops, sorry. Here's the results, formatted. The numbers are from the township clerk's office. I don't know where the Star Ledger numbers are from, but they're not correct.

And the bodies shall be dragged at my horse' heels
till I do come to London, where we will have the
mayor's sword borne before us.

And we are graced with wreaths of victory.
But, in the midst of this bright-shining day,
I spy a black, suspicious, threatening cloud.

O God! methinks it were a happy life,
To be no better than a homely swain;
To sit upon a hill, as I do now,
To carve out dials quaintly, point by point,
Thereby to see the minutes how they run,
How many make the hour full complete;
How many hours bring about the day;
How many days will finish up the year;
How many years a mortal man may live.
When this is known, then to divide the times:
So many hours must I tend my flock;
So many hours must I take my rest;
So many hours must I contemplate.

Congratulations to Vic and Ian...

And a heartfelt thank you to Fred for his service...

To both elected and nonelected, I sincerely hope all of you can work extra hard to deal with a maor problem this election has clearly illustrated: Eastside/Westside division. Maplewood is a great town with trenmendous potential that nonetheless faces many challenges (and everyone knows what they are), and unless we can overcome this division and learn to work together, I fear what the future holds for us and children and their children.

So Fred wins over Ian by 9 votes. This means that absentee ballots have to be counted carefully, I suppose.

How could the Star-Ledger be that far off? What a screw-up.

Thanks Dave!

Then these are the final figures.

The last time a TC election was this close, Siegel/Ryan I believe, the losing candidate demanded a recount and the winner shifted from Siegel to Ryan. Does anyone know if a recount is being called for this time? (Yes, I know this is a primary and the other was a general election.)

Vic's first-place finish is not at all a close one. But do you really think Ian Grodman is going to sue to overturn Fred Profeta's second-place finish? That's about as likely as Howard Dean being named chair of the Republican National Committee.

Since the Profeta signs outnumbered the DeLuca signs on my side of town by at least 9 to 1, my wife didn't bother to vote, even after my little "every vote counts" speech. What should her punishment be? No sex for a month? Constant sex for a month? Not sure which would be worse for her.

Depending on whether I'm feeling spry or creaky, it comes from this:

I grow old ... I grow old ...
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.
Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

Or the peach jam here:

As in mine?!

Did you get the disk I left you? Thanks for loaning it to me. I am keeping my fingers crossed it can be fixed. The guy at Circut City told me it's looking promising... Now what to do about this laptop! :-O(
