the essex county freeholders made a bold statement yesterday by voting against funding for electronic voting machines. here's a link to the star ledger article: http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/essex/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1118381728145950.xml& coll=1 i think this is very much a good thing. it's inexcusable that the current generation of electronic voting machines: a) don't have a paper trail and b) are closed-source ( i.e. the public cannot see the computer code that makes the machines work ). kudos to the freeholders on this one! |

Watch the news coming out of Ohio -- looks like a GOP operative working for Diebold, at minimum, offered an illegal campaign contribution to get county officials to purchase their machines. More at http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/12150159.htm |
