Has bulk pick-up been scheduled for Maplewood? (Last I remember was possibility of some time in May or June, and there would be one pick-up only for the year as opposed to two). Thanks. |

I heard about one pickup only in June or July, but only a rumor. Anyone? |

If there's only one pickup it definitely needs to be scheduled sometime other than during summer vacation. Otherwise, it is guaranteed to miss a fair number of people who are away on vacation, which exacerbates concerns about going to just one per year. It should either be done in late May/early June or wait until September. |

The date has not been determined yet. There will be one pick up for the year. We are still negotiating with Waste Management on the details. |

My taxes went up $3800.00. Why is this being cut from twice a year to once a year?? I can't be because of lack of funds!! |

Emmie, Shame on you for being so uninformed!! You have had the benefit of our leaderships great communication skills and you have failed!! What is wrong with you? The Curmudgeon (running for DEMOCRATIC District Leader) says, "Oy vey...which planet have you been on for the last 2 years?" The Mayor (our chief DEMOCRAT) says, "Let's talk about communication: Bulk Pickup Change - Announcements were made at the Township Committee meeting and in the News Record as soon as the decision was made. By the way it was a 3 to 2 vote by the Township Committee. So the only pattern that we have here is that YOU did not know and are trying to make this into some larger issue." Annettedepalma (Recently joined the staff of DEMOCRATIC Assemblyman John McKeon) says, "By the way, Township Committee meetings are open to the public. There are (at least) two opportunites for public comment on any topic at each meeting. The minutes of the meetings are available for public inspection at the Municipal Building. The meetings are televised on Channel 35. The meetings can be taped and watched at a later time. Township Committee members hold regular office hours. They can be reached by telephone, and they can receive mail at the Municipal Building." The Curmudgeon (running for DEMOCRATIC District Leader) wraps it all up and says, "perhaps you'd like the Mayor personally to call every household in Maplewood to make sure that every single person in town knows every word uttered during every TC meeting. You imply that you can't be bothered to read the TC agendas, posted here every two weeks, can't be bothered to read the News-Record, can't be bothered to go to Township Committee meetings or to watch them on TV, and you "...don't think this should be a requirement of being an informed citizen to be quite honest." Just how can one be an "informed citizen" if not by seeking out these (widely and easily accessible) sources of information? The people who get involved in and know the facts about local issues don't come by their knowledge in utero; they show up, they ask questions, they form opinions based on what they see, hear, and read. They do NOT expect that their mere existence, or even the fact that they pay taxes, is sufficient reason to have a say in every decision." So, in the very words of our DEMOCRATIC leadership and hacks, you should have known. Shame, Shame, Shame on you!!!!! Now pay your taxes, say you are sorry and shut up!! (Quotes taken from the responses I received when I talked about failures in communication from the Town Council on Springfield Avenue, the Bike race, Bulk pickup changes, the Reval and the recent KFC issue.) Emmie, you are wrong, I am wrong, and the DEMOCRATIC steamroller just keeps on rolling. |

Cheers! My parents just moved to a new town. Lovely house, large property, taxes: $3800. They call the township anytime they have bulk garbage, and it gets picked up the next day for free. We should at least have two bulk refuse days. |

Where is this Shangri-La? Please tell us! I'm assuming it's a lot further from NYC than Maplewood. |
