Wondering if there will be an effort this summer to re-paint many many of the road lines around town. Most "Slow School" paint is gone; there are literally no crosswalk lines left at the most dangerous intersection in Maplewood (Maplewood Ave/Jefferson); there is an accident waiting to happen at the intersection of Boyden/Elmwood: no white or yellow lines can be seen at all. I could go on. SOmeone please tell me if the paint trucks are scheduled soon. |

It seems to my, (if my memory serves me correctly) that the lines are usually painted near the end of August. |

The problem with applying fresh paint to crosswalk lines is that the paint which is used by the town (or hired contractor) for this purpose is very slippery when wet. At least when the lines become somewhat fainter, it is generally easier for pedestrians to gain some traction while walking in the crosswalk. The downside is that motorists can't tell a crosswalk is there if the lines become too faint. |

Joan, that's a joke right? There is practically no hint of paint left at the two intersections I mentioned above - it is a very dangerous situation left as is. If slippery paint is actually a concern, then just add some sand to the paint for traction. |

Crabby: I was referring to freshly painted crosswalks like the ones by Oakview and Valley not faded crosswalks which are so faint as to be invisible. I agree that the faint crosswalks should be repainted but I want to caution whoever writes the contract for the painting that the paint presently being used is very slippery when it gets wet and the extra-wide stripes make it difficult to walk between the lines. |

Now that school is up and running and there are children all over, I'd like to see some line painting too. I noticed newly painted lines in the parking lot by the big PO, are the trucks out there doing the streets? |

Let's call up the good folks in Springfield and ask if they'll take care of it during the President's Day vacation. |
