Who is Bart Albini

family
Bart moved from Jersey City to Maplewood with his wife Loretta 20 years ago. They found Maplewood to be a charming suburban town, in the midst of a large urban expansion, that still held the old family values, good schools, and an awareness of its history and traditions.

Within a few months after settling in Maplewood, they had a daughter, Francesca, and couple of years later a son, Robert.

While their children were going through pre-school programs, Bart and Loretta were involved with the Newcomers Club of Maplewood, but spent most of their time raising their children and turning their house into a home.

As their children grew up and were getting involved with the Girl and Boy Scout organizations in the community, Bart and Loretta became more involved in community affairs and organizations.

Loretta became a part-time pre-school secretary for Temple Sharei Tefilo-Israel in South Orange, and Bart reactivated his love of scouting and became a Cub Master of Pack 4 (now Pack 3) of Maplewood. Later, when his son joined Troop 5 of Maplewood, he became a member of their Troop Committee and one of the Assistant Scoutmasters working with the boys. He goes camping, instructs in First Aid, Outdoor cooking, and computers. He also holds the rank of Eagle Scout.

He has a BS from St. Peter’s in Physics, Mathematics, and Education and held a Teaching certificate in New Jersey in all Math and Sciences from K-12. After he finished his under graduate work, he taught for 5 years in private, parochial, and public schools teaching General Science, Physics, Geometry, Algebra, and Electronics. He now holds a MS from Stevens in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics.

Bart is self employed as a Computer Consultant and Network Trouble-Shooter. His clients include JPMorgan Chase, Degussa, Panasonic, Telcordia, American Express, and others as well as a few local businesses.

In the past few years, he has been getting involved in the political affairs of the community because he and his neighbors have noticed a decline in some aspects of the Quality of Life here in Maplewood. He wants to know and find answers and solutions to questions such as:

  • Are we getting the most value for the property taxes we are paying?
  • Why are we not bringing in better, more value-added rate-ables to help defer our increasing property taxes to home owners?
  • How can we restore the quality of our educational program so that our children receive the education that existed when we moved to Maplewood?
  • Why is the political air that of – “What can the community do for us rather than what can we do for the community”?
  • Are our Senior Citizens given the respect and honor they so richly deserve for their years of service to the community?
  • Is there a better method for bulk household pick then the current one?

This is now the time for these and other questions to be asked and the answers found.

“I personally pledge to find, for you, solutions to the problems and resolve these issues.”

Thank you Bart, and best wishes. Your questions on these issues deserve our attention. I’m hoping to see some interesting dialog on line and at the debate next week...
