I've been noticing a sizable increase in the number of buses going back and forth along Boyden Ave again with their "Not in Service" signs up. Anyone else notice this?

I have been noticing more buses as well, but I have not had the time to actually monitor the number. Buses are now also on Parker Avenue!
The only two bus routes that are routed onto Boyden Avenue to "deadhead" to their Newark routes are the #37 & #107.
When a group of our neighbors negotiated with NJ Transit in the spring of 2004, NJ Transit agreed to remove the #1 bus, which accounted for 50% of the Boyden Avenue bus traffic, off of Boyden by September 2004, and the remainder of the bus routes after the Irvington Bus Terminal opened.
NJ Transit kept its word regarding the removal of the #1 bus, but it has not removed the others even though the Irvington Bus Terminal opened in the early spring of this year! At this moment, there are to be NO BUSES on Boyden Avenue.
It is time to regroup and remind NJ Transit of their agreement with the Boyden Avenue neighborhood!
C Bataille, could you please try to keep a record of the number of buses travelling on Boyden Avenue at particular times? We could cross reference them with current #37 & #107 bus schedules. It will be good ammunition for our imminent meeting with NJ Transit. |

I'll try to keep a paper in the car so I can take note since that's the only time I see them. When the "Not in Svc" sign is lit doesn't that obscure the route # sign?

I spoke to Vic last night at the township committee meeting and he's going to follow up on this. I suspect we'll hear from him soon... |

Keep a record of the time, date and bus ID# (on the side and back of the bus). This should be sufficient information.

The bus on Elmwood was a freak thing, he was looking for Boyden Ave.
Seriously, let me know when you guys decide to hold another meeting, I would like to attend.

I’ve also noticed the increase. As you said, lets get a record of the time, date and some bus ID numbers. If you like, I'll be happy to host another meeting again for everyone to assess the problem and decide on what additional steps to take....
