Where are they? I count 3 cans altogether from the hill and around the 3 ball fields.

Fred or eb can you help?

There are two benches beyond the bridge behind the library that get much use and there is always litter strewn everywhere. But there are NO trashcans anywhere.

Also, I heard that dog owners cannot throw the poop away anymore in the cans. Could this be correct?

And anyone know what happened to the wooden bleachers behind the duck pond and next to the ballfield?

ffof,
There are 6 cans on that side of the park alone. It is correct that dog owners must take the "poop" with them. The bleacher behind the duck pond was broken, it will be repaired and replaced. We had a can behind the library but the lovely kids kept throwing it in the brook.

But about the poop...I can imagine that there is going to be more poop left in the park now.

Can the trash can behind the library be attached to one of the benches? I always pick up litter when I'm walking around, but there was no place to put it yesterday morning.

Exactly, Dave. Where does the poop go?

ff: if you attach trash cans to benches you end up with a stinky place to sit that in the summer also attracts bees and flies. Not the most pleasant seating arrangement. But perhaps something could be attached to the ground using cement?

Yea exactly, attach it to a tree or something would work. ALl I know is that yesterday morning there were only 3 available trashcans in the whole park area that I desrcibed above - one under the trees at the bottom of the hill, one behind the ball field nearest to Baker/Valley and one behind the other ball field (valley/oakview). There is usually a trashcan atached to the bleachers, but the bleachers were taken away to be repaired and I guess the trashcan went with it.

Oh, another thing dog owners might do with the poop...they could put it on the front stoop of people's homes and light the poop bags on fire and ring the bell and run away.

My brother did that to a neighbor once. But he forgot to put it in a paper bag first so the prank fell kind of flat.

He turned out to be somewhat bright, tho, so go figure......

I will have the Parks Supervisor make sure the all the cans are where they should be. The poop should be brought back home with the dog owner.

"The poop should be brought back home with the dog owner."

Something tells me that Terry is going to have a lot of stinky garbage cans to empty at the train station come Monday mornings.

As a dog owner, while it is more convenient to drop the bag in a close-by can, I have no problem taking it back home to my own poop can. Especially if that keeps the park cleaner--the poop can at the bottom of the hill is overflowing on weekends and is a health and olfactory hazard by Sunday afternoon.

That is why we don't want it left in the park cans.

fflof, the bleacher will be returned to the park on Thursday, but it won't be put in it's correct spot until the ground dries out.

Thanks. Will that trash can next to the bleachers come back too?

I will check to see if we have any extra cans. The bleacher will be located on the 3rd base side instead of the first base side.
