Did anyone notice Irvington Ave this morning...Per the usual After Thursday response. Every planter, mailbox, and newspaper bin was turned over from Cottage street to Ward Place. And why doesn't code enforcement go out to the obvious Fraternity and stacked student homes on a Friday morning when they are littered with garbage, bottles, open garbage containers, and even kegs now. Residents are required to keep their properties up to code and high standards, why are students exempt?

Irvington Ave looks like that every weekend. I have friends on Irvington Ave and Riggs and they said it was nice and quiet the last few weeks because the students had gone home for the holidays. However the last few weeks have been a nightmare with the Shu KIDS screaming and yelling all night long. They finally gave in last week and called the police on a frat house that is located on Riggs. They said the music and noise was unbearable being that it was 4am. Apparently the police did a number on the students. As the students marched back to campus they overhead a lot of the students complaining about the cops yelling at them and the tickets they got |

For those neighbors that live in the area of these SHU students, knock on their doors around 12:oopm on Friday and Saturday and asked for a cup of sugar. I'm sure you will be waking everyone in the house with excruciating headaches from all the alcohol cunsumption the previous night. As a former college drinker, I didn't want to be bothered before 4:oopm. Good luck. |

Maybe we should try this: According to The Journal Star, Lincoln, Nebraska (home of the University of Nebraska) is thinking of borrowing from the Tuscon, Arizona playbook. They want to give police the power to put up notices on disorderly houses. Disorderly houses are defined as properties where five or more people are gathered or where there’s excessive noise, traffic, obstruction of streets, littering, public drinking, fighting, disturbing the peace or minors drinking alcohol. The notices would stay up for 180 days and during that time police could cite and fine everyone from property owners to tenants and party guests.
