As part of our ongoing effort to bridge the gap between Seton Hall University and the Village of South Orange, the Village Liaison Committee, in conjunction with the Division of Volunteer Efforts and the South Orange Public library announces: Seton Stories Starting Friday the 27th at 11:30 and running every other Friday, Seton Hall students will visit the South Orange Library Children's room and sponsor a story hour complete with exciting books and activities perfect for a 3 - 5 year old! This program has been in the works for a few months now, and Seton Hall students are so excited to get involved with these story hours! Spread the word! The more the merrier! Feel free to PL me or email the VLC at villageliaisons@shu.edu if you have any questions. See you all on Friday at 11:30 at the library! |

Great Idea! I think all children, from pre-school through high school, love the attention and guidance offered by a caring college student. My children are too old for this particular program, but I'm sure you'll get a great turnout. |

Great suggestion Pat. Once this program is a hit, I'm sure there will be more to come! Spread the word for Friday everyone! |

I think this is a great idea! However, I think most all of the preschools don't dismiss until between 11:30 to 11:45 & then the little ones need lunch. Are the times the same each week or can they make them a little later? I know I would love to bring my children & think this would be such a fun activity, but I think the time is going to be a problem for most all of the kids in that age bracket. Thanks for such an great program! |

Hi Kristen. I have the same problem as newmom. My son is finished with his preschool at noon on Fridays, and then he's hungry for lunch. For future dates, is it possible to push the story time back to about 1 or 1:30? |

Hmmm... I hadn't thought at the time issue, thanks for bringing it up. I'll talk to a few people and see if there's anything we can do. 1:00, 1:30 probably won't work as the VLC has its meetings on Fridays at 1:00 and they tend to run long. What other times would work for everyone? No guarantee of a change here, but getting everyone's thoughts will really help. Thanks! |

How about a WEEKEND, so parents that work could also enjoy this? |

I think weekends are good, maybe Saturday at 10am/11am or 1pm. During the week, afternoons are good. I think Tuesdays and Thursdays might also work, as many toddlers attend 3-day a week programs (M-W-F). |

These are definitely things we can take into account , since tomorrow is only the first day! Thank you for your feedback, we would have never known about this! |

O&G: Come to the story hour and find out for yourself. Besides, I'd love to meet you. Also, thanks for all the suggestions regarding times. We had initially picked Fridays because that is the best day to get the most possible students involved. DOVE is the official "owner" of this program, I'll talk to the staff of the DOVE office to see what/if any other options are available. See everyone tomorrow! |

I think anytime after 1:00 or 1:30 should cover the South Orange/Maplewood area preschool kids. Personally, I would love a late afternoon program around 4ish.

The story hour went well. Unfortunatly, only one little girl showed up, but she was so excited to be there and absolutely loved the books that it was all worth it! The next story hour is on February 10th at 11:30. After that story hour and more PR we will look into changing the time so that more people can come. |

As long had a good time! I thought for some reason some of the pre-schools went to the library during the day. Maybe you could send notices to the area pre-schools letting them know when you'll be there. |

My son goes to Mickey Fried Preschool (@ Oheb Shalom across the street from the library). In the spring the kids visit the library. Maybe something could be worked out? |
