i hate to be the party pooper but Hot New Finds is filled with cheap good for nothing Asian made crap and the Day & Night Apparel has chessy clothing. i don't foresee either being in business long. yep, South Orange just moving up the quality ladder! |

I am really disappointed that Day & Night Apparel only has chessy clothing - as I was hoping to find something to wear on checkers night ...

So who are all the retailers that are supposed to go into all the new "coming soon" retail space in the Shop Rite, Beifus, Saiyd and Millenium projects? This town is way over due for some professional business development people. I had started a thread on "Hot New Finds" before they opened. You don't have to go beyond the name to question its viability. Plus the product mix is weird and the place is nothing but a few racks and a display case. Look, I'd like to support anyone who tries a local business, but you just can't do it on a wing and a prayer. Any potential business owner ought to go to Summit and Westfield downtowns first and see what it takes. BTW, has Laced closed up? |

I think Laced has closed up. Great name, cute store. I know it is not Main Street's responsibility but someone needs to help these new stores with their names. They are simply awful. I am surprised that these shop owners can afford SO's supposed high rents, with their respective product offerings. Like Jayjay I will do whatever is possible to support local business ... but I am not going to buy low end products just because the store is in South Orange. The store needs to offer a unique shopping experience.

this all goes back to the BOT having a plan for developing the village. it continues to be abundantly clear it doesn't. if the train and its proximity to the city weren't there the place would be a ghost town. |
