Now that we have heard from Bush will we hear from Calabrese?

(a) Report annually in writing to the Board of Trustees on the condition of the
village, and the work of the previous year;

Perhaps the Village President could write a State of the Village essay for the News-Record, as Maplewood's mayor recently did, as well as speaking at Village Hall. Both would help to foster links between town and residents.

Traditionally, I could never remember myself. It must of been before my time. Maybe last year it's referred to as the May 9th Resolution????

Why would he want to speak in front of children?

If he did it in the News Record, would anyone believe what was written? Would anyone be able to read it? Would the NR insert spelling and grammatical errors, in keeping with their traditional reporting?

The N-R printed Profeta's letter and it read quite well. A letter from our VP would be a step in the right direction, with or without dangling modifiers. It feels like there's an election, and then the government goes into its vacuum chamber. He could make the connection more tangible.

So how exactly will Calabrese communicate the "State of the Village" to the citizenry? I see that he is obligated to communicate in writing to the BOT. Will that commincation get published, and if so, where? I don't remember what was done in past years. And why does it take till April or May? What kind of "tradition" is that? In the tradition of "coming soon"?

The answer is that Calabrese has never, not once, in all his years as President has he followed the charter of the Village by issuing an annual State of the Village address. One would think that the Village Administrator would see that this important task is accomplished.

ok, I'm confused. Allan Rosen says that the State of The Village address is given to the BoT "Traditionally in May or April." This implies that it has been done in the past.

However Elaine Harris has stated, rather unequivocally, that Mr. Calabrese has not ever "followed the charter of the Village by issuing an annual State of the Village address."

So who is correct? Or am I reading too much into what Allan said?

Last year I made the same request in the form of an OPRA request. Within a matter of a few weeks it was published as something like a special edition of the Gaslight just before the election.

Oh yea! That propaganda rag, sent out by Calabrese just before the elections, at the taxpayers expense, telling us how rosy everything is, how things are Coming Soon, and why we should all vote for the status quo. That was followed by his village-wide letter asking us to vote for his ticket Moore-Abrams, Jennings, Salvariello, and we did.

So what are we complaining about?
