Was just looking at the town calendar, and noticed that Village hall is closed on Monday the 13th for Lincoln's Birthday, and then on Monday the 20th for President's Day. Must be nice....I've never heard of closing for both. (Scrolling through a year's calendar, I'll simply note that there are definitely more closings than we get in the corporate world!) |

So it isn't just South Orange, but everyone in state government. Good to know -- Thanks. I see at least five holidays on that list that almost no one gets outside of schools and government (Lincoln's Birthday, Good Friday, Columbus Day, Election Day, and Veterans Day). That is an extra week of vacation for our public servants! I won't necessarily say that it is wrong to give all those days, although I'd love to hear a justification of why the state calendar is this way. However, it is a week of productivity for our government employees. |
