As usual, the roads and public sidewalks and lots in South Orange were beautifully plowed and cleared by a department far too often overlooked.

I, for one, would like to thank the DPW workers for their tireless efforts during this significant snowstorm. You must have worked around the clock.

Thank you.

WOw, Bets, I just got home and was about to post the same thanks. It's amazing how clean and dry the local streets are (especially compared to the lousy job I did on my driveway). But really, they all did a great job and for that we all should be very very grateful!!> Thanks guys.

Mrs. Jersey Boy drove out of town and said it was amazing when she saw the "Welcome to---" sign that indicated she was leaving South Orange and the roads turned to sh*t.

Did the town do something good?

The men and women of the S.O. Department of Public Works do an outstanding job throughout. And if anything goes wrong, it is never because of lack of responsible and conscientious work ethic on their part. There are numerous factors beyond their control that can affect their performance to meet our - sometimes unreasonable - expectations, like equipment breakage, budget cuts, weather, a kitten fallen in a catch-basin. But even then they come through with flying colors.

Thank you too, DPW.

Maybe they should be thanked with a pay raise. Imagine how clean the roads would be if there was that extra motivation.

Vote out: Calabrese, Rosen & Taylor.

In too long.
Out of touch.
Time to go.

(and give raises to hard-working DPW workers)

And thanks for picking-up the large rock on my street before the snowstorm.

I drove around through several neighboring towns on Sunday including Orange, West Orange, and Montclair, and South Orange's streets were in much better shape than any of theirs.

Also worth noting: I take the train from Mountain Station, and in past winters the snow clearing job has been laughable -- basically just the parking spaces were cleared with no attention to pedestrian walkways. But I think I heard that this year the Parking Authority has taken over maintenance of the station lots and the improvement is huge. So thanks to those folks as well.

Buttercup, I thought this thread was about the DPW but now that I think about it, your right. I do deserve three cheers.

Lazydog, I don't know if we could actually win an election, but that would be one hell of a ticket.

Ditto on the kudos for DPW! I drove through West Orange on Monday and it was not pretty.
