They caught him in what I call "Max's Park," as that's where I walked my dog. It's a woodsy area near the DPW across the brook from the Waterlands. There was talk of a "bag of money" found in the vehicle. They're getting a flat bed truck to tow the Jeep. No word yet on the third suspect. |

Home with the kids...Baird was operating Business As Usual. Still a little nerve wracking to think some guy with a gun was loose in the area! |

The third guy was caught in the brook - a SOPD officer had to jump and swim in the muck and get him... |

How do you know this mem? 880 AM said one guy was still on the loose......in Livingston? If he's still on the loose and following the brook, he'll eventually make it to Maplewood, and it's getting dark. This is just a little freaky! |

News 12 also said that a fourth, possibly wounded, was still at large. It was an armoured car outside of a Bank of America on South Livingston AVe. |

FWIW, ABC just reported that it's over. The cops are waiting for the FBI to get the money bag, or something like that, before they move the SUV. The large location graphic at the bottom said Livingston, so it's nice that South Orange was spared the press. |

The AOL News Service comes through once again. I think the BOT and the TC should both pass resolutions telling Livingston that "what happens in Livingston stays in Livingston." It is tough to live near a high crime town. |

I happened to go to the Shop Rite in Livingston tonight around 5:45pm & traffic was backed up on S. Livingston Ave going North because S. Livingston Ave was CLOSED right past Nero's. There was much police activity and what appeared to be an armored car pulled off to the side. I also saw several news vans a little further up the road closer to the Bank of America. There was also a helicopter overhead. |

I'll admit to being a little skittish since this topic began. But we had a mysterious crashing sound earlier tonight. I immediately locked the backdoor, and returned to posting on MOL. But I just went to the bathroom next to the backdoor, and a vase with flowers was on the floor, broken. No one was in the bathroom then. Nor is there any reason for the flowers and vase to have fallen off of the toilet. Should I get a bat and look in the basement. This guy may have a gun, right? I'm in the Montrose area. I want to go to sleep. J.B. |

Why is it I always seem to somehow get caught up in the action!? About 2:20 this afternoon I'm heading over to Jefferson School. As I'm driving along Ridgewood behind a DPW truck at something like 5 miles an hour I'm getting antsy! 'What is this guys problem?' I'm thinking. I thought for sure he'd continue straight to the PWD Garage. But no, he bears right at the blinker, the exact same way I'm going! AAAACK! I'm thinking. He then makes a left at the first street! Yippee! I thought. At the same time he's turning I can see flashing lights coming toward me. Being the safe driver I am, I pull over to the side of the road. There is a car traveling toward me in the same lane as the police car. I'm thinking to myself either this is some idiot blasting the radio who can't hear the sirens or maybe they just are hard of hearing. Meanwhile police car is getting closer! Next thing I know this black SUV swerves around the car that didn't pull over into my lane. My heart sank because I thought for sure they were going to smack into me. Not two seconds later a police car did the same thing. They went so fast I couldn't make out the department. The second police car I could - Millburn. Not really thinking much of it -'just another stolen car' I thought. A little shaken I continued on my merry way to Jefferson School. As luck would (or wouldn't have it) my friend's child didn't have her horseback riding stuff. The quickest way to the Grove Park area at that time of day is over Ridgewood to Montrose. She always likes what she calls 'the exciting stories I have to tell,' so I told her what had just happened. I then jokingly say 'Watch, next we'll hear helicopters in the air!' As we make the left at the blinking lot on to Ridgewood I can see the road block at Third. There are also two police cars heading toward Third from the Ave. We ended up stopped right in front of Third where we could look down the street and see all the police cars in the middle of the road. I had put the passenger's window down and asked the officer if they caught the people in the black SUV. Someone else who was walking started yelling they needed to get down the street. The cop tells me 'No we didn't catch him! Don't go down the street keep going straight.' Then yells at the guy walking turn around and go back the other way. At the same time we could hear 'Be advised he is armed and dangerous!' My friend's kid starts asking if that means the person has a gun. We continue to Montrose Ave where I make a right to go up to Grove. As we get to the brook between Hillside and Meadowbrook we see a police car (from West Orange) parked there with the officer standing by the rail. I put down the window and say, somewhat jokingly, 'Don't tell me you're looking for the guy from the black SUV all the way down here?' I was surprised when he responded 'Yes!' Told me if we lived in the neighborhood to make sure our doors and cars were locked. Great, just what I needed my friend's kid to hear! Called my sister and mom to warn them as we live in that area. A couple blocks up there was a police car from Orange sitting there and some official looking car by the train station. I thought to my self? 'Hmmm, this might be something the Ledger would want to know about. So I called them to let them know something was happening in South Orange. The reporter told me it must be part of the bank robbery. Told me a police officer had been shot. Hit in the bullet proof vest so he'd be fine. Also told one of the robbers was shot. I'm thinking to myself, how can I get this on MOL to warn people? Nancy! That's who! (Sorry Nancy -I know the library number by heart as I spent many days there as a child). As I got information I'd call to tell her. Think I must have called there three or four times. So there you have it! My life isn't as dull as I'd like to think! Thanks for the birthday wishes! |

new- I just read the story you gave the link for. I don't think channel seven realizes it's more then Five miles from Northfield and South Livingston Ave! LOL I'm wondering how when this happened at Northfield Center; how'd the SUV end up being chased by Millburn Police (and what I'm am now guessing was Livingston) on Ridgewood toward South Orange Ave?

ff Yeah IF that's the way they chased them. BUT it is NOT!!! I know for a fact they came somehow through Maplewood because I was almost hit by the SUV and two police cars chasing it on Ridegwood a couple of blocks past the bend after the blinking light on Walton. |
