According to a 2/16 op-ed article in the "News-Record," the Planning Board's master plan committee is meeting tomorrow night, March 1, at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. I assume the South Orange master plan, revised in 2000, is a public document, but I have not had any luck in finding it. I would love to read it in advance of the meeting. Is there a copy online? Thx. |

I just realized, I accidentally uploaded Calabrese's plan for 2005. Here is the latest update of Calabrese's plan for South Orange in 2006:
Thank goodness he had the vision to spend our money on that Tony Smith sculpture, or things would REALLY look bad. |

! (Great contrast between old and new - very stimulating! But the statue seems a bit small...) |

MHD: I think you crushed the child with your placement of the statue.

Can you place the tau thing in proper perspective, e.g., size about 12 - 14 feet tall, on a picture of gazebo area, so we can see the dark intruder for all its copied beauty? Maybe the board of trustuslesstees should see the creation in best two dimension perspective. Reminds me of the opening scene in 2001 A Space Odyssey. The tau monoliths are monitoring us. jd |

Mark & Joel, You obviously have no understanding or appreciation for art. The "crushing of the child" was symbolic of our town's loss of innocence with the purchase of this sculpture. The small "perspective" of the statue is to symbolically demonstrate how the Beifus and Sayid empty lots tower over the insignificance that this statue will make in the appearance of our town. Isn't that obvious? Sheesh! |

Remember the movie; the child isn't crushed. He is enlightened (in SO, by modern metallica art.) jd |

MHD: Just thought there might be others more worthy of being under the statue - especially since the town's innocence went away around the same time MOL came into existence. |

The town's innocence has been gang raped and beaten repeatedly over the past 15 years. But you wish to attribute the lack of innocence to this public message board. Let me say this as clearly as you can read it, you - Mr. Rosner, are a dried crust of dog on Bill Calabrese's shoe. It's not a slur, just an opinion.

Parkinsux: It was actually a compliment to MOL - The innocence went away because I view MOL as a method of communication to help get the facts to the public. You just happen to represent what is wrong with MOL. Dave, just curious, will you ban Parkinsux for his/her post or the whole IP address (and clearly his/her post calls for a suspension). |

Both have been done, but there's no way I can tell if a user reboots their router to acquire a new IP address. |

MHD: "Towering empty lots" is my type of vision. Years ago I spoke to the powerful BOT, when the subject was narrowing SO Avenue downtown - I spoke against it. I told the then VP, who told us in the audience and on air that he had a vision, and what it was, that usually when you have a vision, you tell your psychiatrist, pay her, and then go back to the real world. Here, is Wellsville, we see the visions and tell our psychiatrists that they are real - we are doubted, and we download images from MOL to prove they are real. Dr. Melfi, help me. jd |

Parking- I think your comment to Mark was uncalled for and way out of line. Mark goes out of his way to keep us informed. He's the most upfront member on the BOT. |

This is sad. The thing is that the sculpture really looks like it would fit right in on that street. It would look par for the street.... So, what exactly is it supposed to do for our area? sheesh... |

According to Calabrese, it will "generate more money than any ratable" because it will DRAW people to town who will spend money at the new Diner. Seriously....he said that at Monday's Meeting. Maybe we should forget about Beifus, the Supermarket and "Sayid Plaza" and simply install "art", since it will generate more money anyway. |
