Does anyone know if other towns have the role of town administrator and chief financial officer held by one person, as we do with Mr. Gross? Where are the checks and balances in this arrangement? Maybe if the roles were separated we wouldn't have had the "misinformation" which the BOT's claimed they had with respect to the funding of the sculpture. |

This may not be important, but I'm curious - does anyone know if Mr. Gross is a resident of South Orange? I think I read in the past that he does not live here, but I could be remembering wrong, or that might have changed. |

I can't imagine any $25,000,000 (the approx. size of South Orange's annual budget) corporation having the CEO and the CFO jobs held by the same person. That would seem to be poor corporate governance. So why do we tolerate it in our town? If there were two different people, one would hope that one of them might have questioned the sculpture expenditure. But maybe since these are appointed positions by the administration, independence of thought might be too much to ask. |

Who knew our town even had a CEO position? You learn something new every day, I guess. |

I thought Mr. Gross's three titles were Village Administrator, CFO, and Treasurer. If this is accurate, my biggest issue is with having the Treasurer and CFO as the same person. |
