Mr. Taylor I hear that the only time you are actually seen in South Orange is when you are running for the train or running for office. I have never seen you in town and I am in town quite often. DO you ever come to town? Do you see what is going on in town? |

Art is seen mainly going THROUGH town. Lives in a very nice home, so I guess he figures...'who needs to go out?' |

Does he have a BED in that home? He sure seems to spend plenty of time sleeping DURING MEETINGS? (like while Sheena was speaking on Monday) |

Are you really waiting for him to answer? Does he even go on this message board? Come on a little childish. I haven't been to a "council meeting" in many years, but I believe they open up every meeting to public input. Have you ever opened up a dialogue with him there? You can ask him if he lives in town, what he likes on his hamburger, whatever you want. I myself have not witnessed him sleeping at a meeting, but that obviously is inexcusable. You are well within reason to want explanations. Not like this though, it is cowardly in my opinion. It is a sad commentary on society how everyone "piles on." If your not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. |

I don't find our commentary "cowardly" at all or "childish". Many of us are concerned, as our posts will state, and like you, many of us are unable to get to these meetings to ask questions. We're blowing off steam with each other, and yes, poking fun at our local politicians in the process. What I find odd is that all of our locals know of this online site, and I bet my last cent that they look, read, but do not comment. I find that, like our current gov't administration, out of touch with the public. |

A minor point, Kibbegirl, but: If "all of our locals (who, in point of fact, constitute "the Public") know of this online site", and "they look, read, but do not comment", how can they be "out of touch with the Public"? -s. |

Point being, if you would like to say something to any of the council members or the village president Township Council Meetings are the place to do it. Not here where your questions are sure to go unanswered by the person being asked. |

curts, For what it's worth, you may notice that Allan Rosen no longer wears sweatshirts to BOT Meetings after being "prodded" about it here repeatedly. By "prodding" Arthur Taylor, maybe he'll stay awake at meetings so he won't be so "misinformed". |

Soda, if our local politicians are aware of this site, and I'm sure they are, and do not respond to ANY of our questions, rants or other points, then they are out of touch with the public. Posting for them should be painless because they don't have to meet with us face to face or shake our hands. The only thing they have to do is simply give us the information and/or answers we request. They WORK FOR US, not the other way around. Politicians who sit on the court for many years without fear of ousting, seem to forget that point. |

Kibbegirl, Michael Brant, at al (and you know who you are...): Your Trustees are all volunteers, and certainly not obligated to either read or respond to your online griping. They were voted in by an electorate constituting a pathetically small minority of the eligible voters in S.O., but are nonetheless you elected officials. Want 'em out? Fine. Get off your duff and organize OUT THERE, in the real world. That's the kind of political action required if you desire change... I'm not surprised that you feel upset by the state of some things here in town, but, in the oddly-reasonable words of your buddy MHT, "Venting on MOL has NO impact. If you are tired of this behavior, DO SOMETHING". Now, it took me a couple of years of needling him to get MHD to get beyond his own online whining and sniping and show up at a BOT mtg, but he eventually came around, and look what happened: He made the front page, got major kudos from the rest of you, and has been suggested as a Trustee himself! Not bad for one pissed-off geek, but no less than is required if an airing of grievances is to have any effect. You all can do your own version of the same, whether it be attending a BOT or Planning Committee meeting, or a Coffee Klatch to support a BOE candidate, or simply calling Village Hall to get some actual factual information. But all this irate MOL blather clearly isn't affecting the vast majority of Villagers, and you guys here need to know that. If you're pissed off, spend your time where it'll do some good. Show up. Or shut up. -s. |

Your name is Putz, Little _____ (insert your name here) Would you rather refer to same as Big _____ (insert your name here)? Why not Gargantuan _____ (insert your name here)? Candidly, even Average _____ (insert your name here) would probably be more appealing to your partner than Little _____ (insert your name here). You should get things straight before you call anyone out, ______(insert your name here).

kibble I don't think the BOT members who read MOL (and I'm willing to bet ALL of them read parts of MOL) but don't reply are 'out of touch,' I think it shows they just don't care about what the public has to say. While those who have said we can easily go to BOT meetings and speak our mind are correct; look at what happens to those who do. They get talked over, insulted and at times made to feel foolish. |

I felt a warm gush of emotion spread all over my body when Art Taylor yelled at me and pointed his finger at me - telling me he has been in town for 29 years, and was elected, so my opinion is nothing to him. I was stirred like never before. I am going back for more. jd |

Yes, Joel, please do! I am reminded of the previous BOT meeting where he loudly proclaimed that "WE MADE A DECISION!" to, I think, Mr. Goldberg (bless his brave soul!) I actually flinched when he said that and I was home safely in front of my computer! |

The trustees read the board. Don't you remember when Theroux was going to be appointed to the Parking Authority, someone asked why the public wasn't informed? The response: "Everyone read about it on Maplewood Online." |
