I'm a little confused by a couple of comments that Ms jennings made while eveyone was falling voer themselves to praise te work of the folks raising money for the Tony Smith sculpture.

She said:

Quote:

...This is not an easy task, to make everyone in the community happy. And during hard times, and looking at the budget - it IS hard to look at... where can we cut services, where can we add. And it's a pleasure and it's a joy to have people and residents come together to help us keep things moving forward instead of attacking us on what we're not doing...

if we're having such budgetary issues, how can one, in good concience, be in favor of this sculpture at this time?

I'm hoping TRustee Jennings will realize she needs to stop endorsing other people's bad ideas for the village and follow her own instincts: we are in hard times, she knows it, but it hasn't sunk in yet. She just thinks those other guys are so nice, how could they be wrong?

I think it's time for a coffee klootch. Or was in kletch.

Oh that's right, it was a klotch.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I wonder if they serve lattes there. That could save a few bucks on the tax side.

I truly do not mean to pick on her. but she seems to have a glimmer that there are problems, and does nothing to change things.

Do you mean the lights on but no one is there?

No, I mean that she seems to see there are problems in the town, but has not yet recognized the depth and source of them. And she is too busy defending her fellow trustees to reflect on the what she can do to really change things.

I'm trying to say there is hope.

Yes, Rastro, she is too busy defending fellow trustees insteaad of setting standards for them the way she did when she quickly and clearly said she was not on the committee/board that determines how much money the schools get because her husband is an administrator there.

I think she can understand that in hard times, a detailed plan of how major expenditures, no matter how popular they might be, needs to be worked out. It needs to be credible. It cannot count fantasy income the town does not have, has little hope of having in the foreseeable future, and may never have. These are very basic nuts and bolts issues she can understand. She appears to have the courage and strength to demand that the administration produce such plans and when they don't she can understand that she should not vote for such expenditures.

If she did some of these things, it would improve on the way she agreed to allow the town to write a blank check for hundreds of thousands of dollars. No more blank checks, ever!
