I was in We Got Movies the other day and heard that they're closing soon. All the videos are for sale. Anybody know any more about this? Frankly, I can't stomach the thought of renting videos from Blockbuster. |

What's wrong with Blockbuster? I went into We Got Movies once and found it impossible to navigate. What a mess! |

You can ask them for any movie you want though and they instantly know where it is. You can't say that about blockbuster.. personally we're a netflix/DVR family now |

Yeah, but I rarely know what I want when I go to the video store. And I don't need to ask where movies are at Blockbuster because they're well-organized and easy to find. |

We Got Movies is the best video store in the area and really have the best selection. This is sad news. Blockbuster will never get my business, that's for sure. Any one know why they're closing? |

Maybe Bill is selling the building and moving his Pharmacy to a Sayid property. Will this building be another demolition derby? |

Trustees and Village Hall Staff, if you read this, PLEASE DO NOT TEAR DOWN ANY MORE ARCHITECTURALLY VALUABLE BUILDINGS! The buildings of this town are beautiful, historic and restorable. It's absolutely senseless (financially, historically, aesthetically, morally) to tear them down to build generic-looking, Disney-fied, Tudor-ish replicas! Please, for the love of the art you purport to support, save the buildings. They are a reason to move here and love it here. Architecture IS art. |

I was under the impression that the owner's of We Got Movies was the owner of the building. Such sad news. I never go anywhere else for my movies.

So sad to see them go. If you know what you want, you can ask for it and poof! it's there, without wandering around. If you don't know what you want, you can either wander or check out the staff's personal lists. They fixed my VCR for free. And it may be the only store in existence where the cashier says "Do you want to pay your late fees now?" Bye Janet! Bye David! Bye Moe! Bye all! I hope you will all find something to do that you enjoy as much as I've enjoyed visiting WGM.

It took a while, but Blockbuster finally wins. I wonder what would happen if a CVS would be allowed in the village. Would another local competitor we all know be in jepoardy?

I think a CVS would be a welcome addition. I'd like to see them take over the Rite Aid store. I went to the Rite aid today, but was so disgusted by the state of the parking lot, that I walked away without going in. There was litter all over it. And I don't find the people who work there particualrly helpful or pleasant. And for Calabrese's place. That's a mess inside. So I trek over to CVS in Millburn. I would prefer we had one closer, but its okay.

jayjay, Are you kidding? The people at Rite Aid are incredible. I rarely go in there without the cashier offering me a coupon offer that was in the paper that I didn't know about, or some other great customer service experience. Of course, I actually park and go in... J.B. |

Oops, I forgot about "We got movies." It sucks that they're closing, but this is the reality in a netflix world. The thread about "what stores do we want?" asks the real question. How do we shop? What do we need? I don't know the answer. J.B. |

Glad I caught this thread. I Picked up 6 hard to find Samurai movies this week at We Got Movies, including The 47 Ronin. Lots still left. The store and the great staff will be missed. |

The only problem is that they aren't selling the newest movies yet, and all the others are priced at $9.99 or 3 for $25.00, If I remember correctly, a lot of the movies can be had new for the same prices. I did end up buying three, and renting some of the newer ones they wouldn't let me buy. |

I haven't been to a video store in years. I appreciate the fact that you can get something spontaneously, but I've learned to plan what to watch with netflix. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.

I will miss we got movies. They had (have) a huge selection. The walgreens in Newark good place to keep on the radar as they have 3% sales tax. Glock man - you tried to turn a thread about a movie store closing into a race issue. (people are too scared to go to Irvington......there are black people there). You sure stick to your guns. I hope you are studying law. I would love a lawyer that is so persistant. They didn't have the last MASH. I was hoping for that. It is out of print and a good piece of VHS. |

Yeah, it's on Irvington Ave in Newark, across the street from Maplewood. It's nice to have, since it's open 24 hours. There's a Radio Shack in the adjacent lot.

I am surprised that the CVS comment caused the thread to veer off point. I was just making a correlation with Blockbuster to We Got Movies and CVS to the Prescription Counter. That's why there are limited choices to get your medicine in South Orange. BTW: I moved my business to CVS from our local "counter" years ago. |
