Quote:

Trustee Allan Rosen explained his plan to address the budget “situation”. This would be
a 2-3 year plan to address the $2.5 million shortfall in the 2006 Budget. This plan would
be based on a 10% increase in 2006 and a 4.5% increase in 2007.

Then, TWO DAYS LATER:

Quote:

He asked what the municipal tax increase was expected to be this year and when the Board would have a final number, as he had heard rumors that it would be between 8% and 12%. Village Administrator, John Gross responded that he did not have anything to report at this point in time as the Village is still finalizing the end of the year transactions for 2005.

According to today's News Record, the Budget was supposed to be introduced at 8am today.

Mark/Eric - can you share what the BUDGETED increase is supposed to be?

MHD: Rosen's numbers are what is being discussed by the BOT as a whole. Nothing has been finalized yet and I don't think all six trustees are in agreement yet.

I find it interesting that one strategy for dealing with the budget is situation is "6. Revisit “Special Requests”"

http://www.southorange.org/minutes/2006/03-11-06sm.pdf

Hello!!! Hello!!! Hello!! Is anybody home???

I happen to know of a $250,000 SPECIAL REQUEST.....

nah...it's easier to stick it to the residents with a 10% tax increase!

Does anyone GET IT? STOP THE MADNESS

MHD - Keep it up. Keep it up. Keep it up.

Pressure. Pressure. Pressure.

They need to feel it like we feel it. The trustees decisions as a group have been poor, half-baked, misguided and just plain dumb.

I think I have the solution to our budget crisis -

Put a "lie - jar" on the dais and everytime someone from the BOT tells a LIE, they have to put 1 dollar in the lie jar.

We'll have a budget surplus in no time.

MHD,

Is that if they ADMIT to lying, or if they are caught in a lie at the time the lie was uttered? Is there a time limit on how long they can be found out in a lie, and if not, does that mean that if they are caught in a lie at a later date, that the 1 dollar has interest added from the date of the lie to the date the lie was discovered??? In some cases, this will huuuuuuurrrrrttttt!

AAAAGH - my poor head - can I apply to the, what will be a sizeable fund, for some headache pills????
