Why still is there no covering on the chain link? And when will they move the fence back to allow pedestrians to access the sidewalk? I have seen a few walkers nearly hit by cars trying to navigate around stopped vehicles at the Post Office. |

I sent the following e:mail to Code Enforcement yesterday: I do not think the Vose Street construction site (New Market) meets Village Code re: Chapter 95 subsection 95-7. It is my impression that a construction fence currently erected does not meet the specification outlined in the code - " ... firmly secured to the ground, with a white opaque wooden exterior barrier to prevent litter from entering or leaving the site as well as blocking the external view of the construction site." The response was that they were aware of the condition and have already given notice to the contractor to correct the situation.

Thanks Howard. So I guess it is best to blame it on the contractor. |

The only problem is that the Village still owns the property. |

Quote:Mr. Goldberg next commented that at the January 23rd Trustee meeting, he had inquired about a resolution from October 24, 2005 to condemn certain lands for the Shop Rite site and he was told that negotiations were still ongoing and it was anticipated to be resolved within 40 days. He asked for an update on this matter. Village Counsel, Ed Matthews responded that negotiations were still underway and that he is hopeful the matter will be resolved in the relatively near future. Mr. Goldberg then asked if the supermarket was still going to be open by this Thanksgiving. The Village President commented that if no problems are found on the site, it is anticipated that the time schedule given to the Village would be on track.
8 months left to build a parking deck AND a Supermarket? Better Hurry.... Oh...by the way, better make sure you have control of ALL property FIRST.

Howard - Can you confirm? I thought by now title had passed. I thought the only piece remaining was the easement. Are you saying the demolition took place and the Village still has title? |

I guess the Code for the criteria of a barrier explains whySaiyd painted the plywood white in front of Saiyd Plaza. Now that's progress! |

I as well sent e:mail on that site: I do not think the "Sayid Plaza" construction site on South Orange Avenue meets Village Code re: Chapter 95 subsection 95-7. It is my impression that a construction fence currently erected does not meet the specification outlined in the code - " ... with a white opaque wooden exterior barrier to prevent litter from entering or leaving the site as well as blocking the external view of the construction site."

I prefer the external view. The internal is so grim. So, three quarters of the critical interesection, (train trestle overhead, and S.O. Avenue) looks like Dresden after the fire bombing, and, to quote Fellini, the band played on. Thanks BOT. jd |

Well, maybe a light bombing near Bunny's, but the dumpsters under the trestle are disgusting, and likely a health and safety hazard. jd |

99 holes in the village to fill, 99 holes in our town. Fence one in, do it again... 100 holes in the village to fill! [Repeat as needed] |
