Can anyone answer this for me? I am not a long term resident, I have only been here 3 1/2 years, but I am hearing all this stuff about the gazebo etc being razed to make way for the sculpture..

Just a thought. That area looks very "finished" to me, almost as though a great amount of effort, thought and money went into it. What was the idea behind it? WHO was behind it? Was this something that the town wanted?

I think it's very pretty, but that is not the point of my post. I was just wondering that if it was something created with pride for the town, why it is so easy to get rid off...

Can anyone answer this?

soparants,
Please there lots of threads about the Tony Smith Sculpture right on this message board for you to look at. I agree with you 100% that the gazebo looks great and should not be torn down. I wish South Orange would put the Sculpture in front of one the town buildings like a school or the town's senior center. That way South Orange will not have to spend money to tare down a perfectly good gazebo only to replace it with a Sculpture.
