I have no problem with Verizon ANYWHERE in SO. Try getting a different phone. Most times it's not the carrier...its those phones with awful antenna systems and whatnot. |

I also switched from ATT to Verizon and find it much better downtown. But it can be flaky. Varizon works just fine on the adult level of the So. Orange Library but there is poor to no reception on the lower level. Go figger. But ATT was worse.(Maybe a cell attenna on the top of the Tony Smith sculpture would be beneficial (Just kidding everyone. I'm not serious!!) |

Ditto Verizon. Although I am totally ticked at them for inactivating the bluetooth capabilties of their phones for some equipment, like my Palm Pilot ! The only place I've had trouble is right after Glenview in the Reservation. (haven't tried to use it in the library.) |

My Cingular seems to work just fine (now) in both Maplewood and South Orange. |

I've had AT&T, Cingular and Verizon. Verizon's been the best, however the area between Foster and Mountain (basically the length of Glenview) sometimes gives me trouble. |

I have Cingular. I used to have problems everywhere in Maplewood but now it's fine both in Maplewood and South Orange. It even works in Maplewood Village (never did before!). My phone does NOT work on the S-turns or in parts of Short Hills. |

i have never had any problems with my T-Mobile and i have great service in many of the places that my husband who has Verizon has NO service at all. I have been with T-Mobile for years (AT&T and Cingular prior to that-both of which were horrible IMHO) and have never had any complaints-customer service is fantastic-which can not be said for some of the others listed in other posts (from what i hear) |

Cingular has a booster antenna on top of the watertower in the newstead. From what I hear they are the only reliable service for those who live up here. |

I am a blue/orange customer (AT&T ~> Cingular) and have had the same phone during and after the merger. I consistently have 3-5 (of 5) bars anywhere in either town, with the exception of the SO Library's stairwell and lower level. |
