I like art.
I like good government.
I like diversity in government competence.
I want to know how I would go about getting permission for a work of art on Floods Hill.
I know that the AK47 is an artist's viewpoint about something about guns, or flowers, or something.

I propose a gourmand resident's artistic viewpoint.

I would like to position a montage of blow-up photos of our "pits," etc. etc. with "coming soon" all over them. I would put a sign besides each crater, and barren landscape, so that people would know what it was.

I believe this will not cause as much controversy as the AK47, as after all, so far people haven't died due to "coming soon" signs, false promises or pits.

I will take a poll of everyone I know who agrees with me to support my position.
I will find converts to "cs art" and they will wear T-shirts, which will say, of course, "coming soon." Since this art is political, it will be spelled: "coming doom."

O.K.?

Coming doom is too much.

I would wear a "Coming Soon" T-shirt.

J.D., you have a good point. Don't ruin it by becoming MORE of a jackass than those who you oppose.

Notice the vibes here on MOL. People follow charisma, not lunacy.

J.B.

That was not an invitation to rant about the lunacy of the present administration. IF you succeed they won't be followed.

JD

How would you do the t-shirts? I think the ones that the Tony Smith people wore at the meeting last night were quite effective - they had all the names of the cities listed where TS sculptures could be seen. Perhaps yours could be similar? On the front would be "South Orange - coming soon" and on the back would be for instance..

Beifus (Delayed "Coming soon")
Saiyd Rug Store area (Our VP will have BIG news coming soon)
SOPAC
Clearview (Delayed "Coming soon" They need a good movie season and the good movie season seems to be different in South Orange than elsewhere)
Supermarket (???????)
"The Avenue"
Destruction of gazebo and fountain
Essential maintenance on the library
Essential maintenance on the Baird Centre
Town Hall Deli (I have withdrawal symptoms...)
Gulf Station
Road resurfacing
Firehouse completion
The Old Stone House stabilisation
Fiscal responsibility

and of course higher taxes coming soon too. We KNOW this item will definately be coming soon.

I have said before, there are some good people on our BOT's. I've also said they have brains and heart. I'm hoping Mr.Matthews was joking when he said to someone last night that they can't believe all they are told during a campaign...(I can't remember the exact words, I was just shocked that he would say something like that) Come on Trustees, SHOW us where we are going. Again I ask, PROVE to us that you are there for GOOD reasons, for the good of our town, and not some personal agenda. It's hard putting your own goals aside, but you wanted this position, you asked to be elected.

I've said before, I love this town and I want to see it thrive.

May all future art be aesthetically pleasing and non-controversial. Maybe something with puppies...that would be nice.

Marion, I understand that it is made of flowers. You could smell them. That would sort of be like using it.

I'm really not sure. I suppose that there is always that possibility. Perhaps we could have the mythbuster come and find out for us.

i don't think that would be a problem. we could just tell everyone it's for the sake of art, give those guys $250,000 and hold it over maplewood's head that we were first to waste almost $1 million dollars! in fact i have palm tree in the shape of whistler's mother in my backyard. i squoze it myself.

JD..

Could you put a large stopwatch beside each project on your "resident's artistic viewpoint" showing how much time has passed/is passing..

Maybe you could also add a blown up picture of money, and have the amount of money so far invested by/lost by/promised by/written off by/given away by etc the BOT to these projects and/or the developers/redevelopers. This will change if needs be if more money is spent..

Oh dear, now i'm getting depressed (I feel a headache coming soon) maybe I should just stick to a t-shirt...

No Kitties as everyone knows cats are inherently evil and we wouldn't want to encourage children into believing that cats are acceptable even when used as a metaphor.

How about a cute little bear in a black orchid arrangement?
It would be in honor of the demographically correct Black Bear being hunted right now, right here, (well not here, no bear in my office this early in the day), a bear which never harmed anyone, just wants to eat, and is patiently waiting for the Village Market to open.

If a child brings a small scale version of the ak 47 made of flowers to school for an art project will the child be expelled? If the answer is yes then it has no place in the park and who ever is responsible for this should be fired or removed from whatever board they are on.

But, art trumps logic and public policy.
In South Orange, and with a BOT which abdicates all responsibility.
If a child points his "trigger finger" in a playful manner, (remember play?), at another child in school, he is suspended.
Zero tolerance policy.

I guess you'd want to put a fig leaf of the statue David as well.

To each his (or her) own.

Go in peace.

I'm a tad surprised joel wasn't flamed for including the color of the bear's fur in his post.
