has anyone noticed that the ambulance in town uses the air horn WAY too much?! i was standing on the street with my grandchild when the ambulance drove by with the air horn sounding all the way down the street. i don't remember the old ambulances sounding like that. my poor grandchild cried the whole walk home..checking behind her to see if it was going to come back. my ears rang for 3 hours after. I'm not saying anything bad about the rescue squad..i send in my fund drive money and I'm very thankful for all that they do. i know that they need the siren to move the traffic..but on this day there wasn't a car in the way..it seemed excessive and it scared my grandchild and me half to death. does anyone know who i should contact to voice my concern? |

Maybe if people would get out of their way quicker with the traditional lights and sirens...they wouldn't have to resort to those extra loud horns. If I am sick or injured feel free to be extra loud coming to my aid!!! |

I have had sensitive hearing since I was young, and I find that these horns are more than unpleasant, they are actually painful to my ears. They come close to injuring my inner ears. I personally wish that they would not use them. For the same reason, I do not go to rock concerts. |

I think most of the time the air horn (or siren) is used for an extended time it is because someone thinks that wherever they happen to be going is more important than where the ambulance happens to be going-- and he or she doesn't pull over. That plus the fact that South Orange Avenue has so many traffic lights so close together. If they were on the way to your house, you'd want them using the horn. |
