I posted this on the Soapbox as well, and would not have done a re-post if it wasn't for the fact that I just saw same gentleman BLOCKING TRAFFIC! What the?

Dear Sir, I hope I got your license number correct. I see you almost every day, tending to your job on the streets of South Orange, making sure there are no illegal parkers and that the meters are filled. The main problem with your day to day duties is that you constantly block traffic and cause traffic confusion. Take today for instance. We're on So. Orange Avenue near the Dunkin Donuts. I spotted your navy mini-truck ahead of me and I knew there'd be trouble. You decided to make a full stop in ongoing traffic, without putting on your hazards, and WALK across the street to the Wachovia Bank to give a ticket to someone who was illegally parked there. What nerve! The rain was heavy and there you are, in the middle of the street, blocking traffic on both sides. When you make your way back to your truck, instead of getting in a pulling off, you proceed to stand there, in the pouring rain with your door open, again causing traffic to back up, to make sure that the woman you gave a ticket to actually pulled off from the illegal space! Sir, whether you are giving a ticket, or giving a warning, you are most certainly always BACKING UP TRAFFIC. Your refusal to pull over to the side and not block traffic boderlines on irresponsibilty. We appreciate your dillegance, but please do South Orange a favor and OBEY THE TRAFFIC LAWS YOU ARE ENFORCING!

Are you suggesting he drive around and park legally until he finds a spot so that he can enforce a parking violation. Maybe if the person he was ticketing was parked legally he wouldn't have to stop and enforce it

I somehow think his stopping int e middle of the road inconvenienced more people than the person who parked illegally. And he could pull into one of the many illegal spots around town. Right in from the of the BoA is a non-spot that his toy truck can fit into. It's not like someone is going to give him a ticket for parking illegally.

NORA, that's not what I'm suggesting at all. This guy is constantly stopping his vehicle in the street to either walk across the street to give a ticket or makes sudden stops, sans hazards, to double park to give tickets. All of which are illegal. When he's not on a city street, he's driving around the train station, usually near Cate and Abbey's giving out tickets as well. He'll literally block cars trying to pull into a space or pull out of a space, or block the cross walk, to give tickets. He clearly lacks driving 101 and road courtesy and feels we, the obedient drivers, aren't as important as his purpose.

We should hire another municipal traffic department to give tickets to the municipal parking authority who parks illigally to give tickets to people who park illigally.

Similar to getting a dog to solve your cat problem after your cat solved your mouse problem.

I've posted it before but it's worth repeating in this thread - I've seen this man not once, but TWICE parked in a metered spot with an expired meter reading the newspaper in his "official vehicle". One time I told him that his meter was expired and he just waved me off. The parking authority in South Orange is a joke. Plus, I pay for a parking permit for a lot that is constantly cluttered with cars without permits that are VERY rarely ticketed and if you call to tell them that the lot is full of unpermitted cars, you're told too bad, park in a different lot. The enforcers are ridiculously inconsistant, often rude, and and extremely aggravating.
