Note to whoever is in charge of the call in remonstrances...

I placed my call close to 2 hours prior to Trustee DeVaris' announcement that there were 'no calls'.

Just to make sure we're on the same page - I called - 973-378-7715 (and I KNOW that's the right number b/c as soon as I dialed it... my phone said 'Village Hall' b/c it's saved) and then I dialed extension 2238.

I left my message and dialed the number sign (as directed) and then I was given further instructions, so I dialed the number sign again (as directed) and received the confirmation "Your message has been delivered".

Now I know my message was very redundant of what everyone else there tonight was saying (fiscal responsibility) but that doesn't mean it shouldn't have been played.

I hope this was just a mistake and no one else is leaving messages only to find that there were 'no messages'.

Anyone else?

MHD,

Eric actually made a comment that there were no call-ins.

These meetings continue to be MUST WATCH TV!

Even better in person though!

I'm sure once HBO picks up the series, who wouldn't with the way they act, I'm sure it will then be on HD. For now, just tune to Channel 19.

Update - you MUST call in within the first 15 minutes of the remonstrances or else your call will not be played. I think there needs to be a little bit more leeway then that. I understand that sometimes it only lasts a few minutes but for most meetings (like last nights) - it goes on for quite sometime. In addition, some things that people raise will be in direct reference to what someone else says. For example, my question last night was in reference to Dr. Rosen telling the gentlemen at the podium that everything has funding and that the BOT has addressed all financial needs...

So maybe there should be a cut off time flashed on the screen based on how many people's hands are still up to speak, etc. 15 minutes is a little bit hard.

Okay that's all - thanks to Ms. Laura Harris for calling me bright and early to notify me of what happened (and Trustee Rosner emailed me as well).

Of course, had we known you were calling to bust Dr. Rosen's chops we would have made an exception....

I agree we need to come up with an alternative to the 15 minute rule. However, we did say would start with this format and make changes as needed and I am certainly open to suggestions.

Sheena,

For what it's worth, I personally called Dr. Rosen on that exact same comment last night off-camera. To say that the Village has met ALL financial needs is preposterous. We ALWAYS could have roads repaved, sidewalks fixed, curbs fixed, better equipment etc. He made it sound like everything is PERFECT and we have money to burn on a sculpture.

I agree with Sheena that the 15 minute rule is silly and should be adjusted.

The message on screen was definately being put up well beyond the 15 minutes.....

And while i'm on the subject of remonstrations, who do I speak to about having an icon etc stuck on the southorange.org website directing people where to click to send an e-mail for that nights remonstrations section??
