After watching the segment of the gentleman whipping out his cellphone at the BOT meeting I decided to give Sterling a call to find out what I can. What I learned is the proposed condos are not sold out. There is not a waiting list to buy them. Not only have none been sold, they don't even know how much they are going to sell them for. To top that off, the actual floor plans haven't been determined. That decision should be made within the next couple weeks. There is no website to view what the project might look like, so the only way you can get this information is through the mail. The list they have is a mailing list.

Who said they were sold out? I couldn't answer when she asked me this.

The development is to be called 'The Avenue at South Orange.' I asked if they realized their banners do not reflect the 'new demographic' of South Orange. It seems as if TerriAnn hasn't asked them the same tough questions she's been asking other companies wanting to do business with or in the town because she asked what I meant.

Funny. First thing I noticed was the demographic makeup of the advertisement. Doesn't look like the South Orange I live in.

And, is Angelina Jolie moving into town? Lucky us!

I hate the stupid banner on the fence on vose - I had to walk on that side of the street the other day *where we have all noted there is no sidewalk* and of course it was windy and the damn thing hit me on the head - the whole fence was swaying back adn forth because the wind couldn't pass through - and of course I didn't notice until it is too late!

TK...according to Calabrese, that is not a "banner" it is a "fence". Because a "banner" is not allowed to be up for more than 30 days or be more than a certain size, according to Village Code. So...if that were a "banner", it would be illegal.

As for the one on South Orange Avenue, perhaps that one is "siding" and not a "banner" either....

TK - It hit you on the head? Joking aside that banner should be securely attached so that the wind can't whip it up...

Mind you the bigger concern is if in fact it is considered a fence... if THAT hit you on the head......

Ouch...

Against code and dangerous????

If the banners aren't securely fastened, is there any danger in them pulling the fence panels over in high wind? Are the panels locked together? Genuinely asking. I gave no thought to this until reads TK's post

I walk down Vose Ave daily - aside from the banner and the unstable fence, where is the pedestrian egress? How long did it take the village to get a walkway (or sidewalk) in place at the Beifus site? What the flock is going on in this town? I don't mind if the banner or fence hit a parked car (more comuter freebie parkers from out of town), but seriously how can this site be complying with any kind of village code? And TK, I hope you weren't seriously injured!

I was more stunned than anything else. I tried to call the number on the sign but it was all automated and I gave up.

It I had been hurt hurt you know I would have sat down where I was and called the police and filed charges against them. I looked at the bottom of the fence and there was a rock or something that was holding it in place. Very very stupid idea if you ask me.

I don't know what they are doing. are people supposed to go from the goat walk up a bit - cross the street - walk up a bit more and then cross back to go to the post office?

This town is really screwy if you ask me.

I've voiced concern at the Village Hall about the "fencing" for a long time and finally gave up. The struts stick out into the road and I have seen cars hit them with their tyres. Pedestrians are not being considered at all, which is a slap in the face...There is debris and rocks/bricks around too, it looks very messy.

Not sure who is responsible as never got a straight answer, and as you say, when you call the number for Sterling it is all automated. I have left a message about the condition of it etc but am still waiting for a call back.

If no work is commencing on the site for a while, and since it was posted that plans aren't even in place yet, they should consider even temporarily pushing back the fencing so that pedestrians can safely walk how and where they are meant to.

I got a call back right away when I left my number expressing interest in buying a condo, that I really had no interest in buying! Try that.

Given that a town's vibrancy depends significantly on it's ability to attract pedestrian shoppers, it is amazing how little the town seems to care about pedestrian safety as compared to builder convenience.
