Hear, Hear.

Tau's for everyone's front lawn! We can then be called "TAUth Orange" <groan>

According to the BOT, it will only cost us $3/year/household for each one, so why not, right?

Why? Because they piss people off?

Although it is better than Gallery 61 (I believe that's the name of it.) At least this place isn't bumping music late into the night with their loud parties.

Yahoo! Message Boards > Entertainment & Arts > The Buzz

Hey MHD what is up with you? If you are not talking about TAO on line you are in town bothering people with the petition. Let it go already.
You are really becoming annoying. Please stop bothering people in town who just want to get a cup of coffee and enjoy their day.

God forbid people in town learn that a small group of people have convinced the BOT to borrow $250,000 to fund a pet project ...a project that will radically transform the centerpiece of our village and will displace a public improvement that is less than 10 years old - and isn't even paid for yet! Many BOT members don't even agree with the location of the project.

Kudos to MHD. Tauistas have reason to fear the light of day and MHD is bringing it.

The drift of these threads is unbelievable! Always a strong undertoe, or underTAU, sucking us unto the same sorry discussion, over, and over, and over. Please, get on with your lives!!!!! Try to enjoy the art you like, and ignore that of which you don't approve. (And, please, spare me and other readers the typical and highly redundant "our tax monies spent" response.)

Once tau is in our faces, downtown, replacing a beautiful gazebo, and is in place daily, nightly, weekendly, it will be less easy to ignore that umpteenth copy of the metalwork Hunter College stuck on a sidewalk years ago.
As to a citizen petitioning for a redress of a grievance, that seems to be legal, doesn't it?
Better to get after the all day bench warmers who smoke and make it unpleasant for anyone to get on a bench.
This morning, at 7:30, one of the round ones was sleeping at the circle next to Dunkin Donuts.
mrosner: can the town ask the loiterers to move on after an hour or two?

SO1969 - THANK YOU!

Shanabana - This thread is about Pierro - the same people who are forcing us to pay for their pet project, so Tau comments in THIS thread are not thread drift. For what it's worth, I believe Dave started this thread as a joke to begin with and my response of having us called "TAUth Orange" was a joke, as well.

Lighten up, people!

Thanks Mayor, great, really appreciate it----

So much for my idea of opening Gallery 351---right here at my home on 351 Meeker Street---my concept is slightly different though---of course it includes bumping music---but more "classic soul" and 70's hits---think of the musical intersection of Starland Vocal Band and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes---now that's something the neighbors can get pissed about---what's more, Gallery 351 will offer value-added amenities that you can't find anywhere else in town---such as painstakingly crafted sloppy joe sandwiches on paper thin white (not Wonder) bread, ample parking, and gourmet food concessions offered in a safe "non-drive-by" environment---basically, all the fixins you need to attract and cater to the new demographic. Plus, I'm even considering a Millburn shuttle to stimulate business from our up-market neighbors! I mean, why should Martini's have all the fun?

Presently, concepts for Gallery 351 are being reviewed by the Board of Trustees---an area of controversy is my plan to include a $3 cover charge for all patrons---these funds will underwrite the large "Moon Dile" that I plan to place in my front yard which will serve as a nightime chronometer and celebration of me---when moonlight hits the chronometer at just the perfect angle patrons will know its 2am, last call and time to hit the road---it will also trigger a unique, engaging and interactive audio/visual performance art retrospective of my first 20 posts on MOL---in fact, SOPAC has already approached me about applying this concept to live theater---the possibilities are endless and I'm excited about the prospect of a SOPAC gig!

So please, don't be a kill-joy, support Gallery 351!

One other side note---on cloudy nights Gallery 351 will simply remain open as my Moon Dile will become inoperable---and without the interactive retrospective of me and my first 20 posts on MOL---patrons will simply have to accept me as I am in reality without celebrating my cyber alter-ego---sounds pretty cool, doesn't it?

Finally, the whole concept is a win-win! I mean, even if my business fails I can simply re-open under a different name a la the Stuffed Shirt, South Orange Grill, Lot 15, Village Wine Bar Model---Gotta love America! Gotta love South Orange! We thrive in this land and village of opportunity!

If there is one thing about MHD it is that he stands up for what he believes in.

Agree with him or disagree, that is your choice, but this is someone in South Orange who believes that something is wrong and that the population have not been made aware of what is happening. If he had felt that things had been handled correctly, I am sure he would have been one of the folks in town who just want a coffee and to enjoy their day..

Maybe if others had been "bothering people" at the beginning, and gatherning signatures etc, and making the town aware back then as to what was going to happen, then MHD's current actions would not be necessary.

I'll be curating three exhibitions at Gallery 351 this year.

From June 1-July 21
Farenheit 351
Photographs and multimedia of fires fueled by Coming Soon signs and banners.
Admission: $5 or signed waiver saying you appreciate the arts, but admit the BoT is plain old weird sometimes

From July 22-August 8
Lamp, Table, Chair: A Duchamp retrospective
Unsigned artworks by the great French dadaist fill the first floor.
Admission: hexagonal fish

From August 9-August 10
Pay me, Pay you
Using Venn diagrams, visiting Italian artist Erno Panglosi installs diagrams surrounding the Moon Dial with illustrations of overlapping conflicts of interest of village president Calabrese. Additional space needed will be accommodated by extending the diagrams down Meeker to Montrose, up Montrose to Scotland, down Scotland to SO Avenue and from there into Newstead.
Admission: cash only

Steve - that is priceless. Dave, sign me up for Farenheit 351 if it includes lighting up the "live south orange, love south orange, laugh south orange" un-diverse non-banners.

Dave,

I would like to display my exhibition of the moving image, entitled "You can't make this stuff up".

For a preview, visit http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=mayhewdrive.

Perhaps we can set up a HUGE screen on Flood's Hill for the World Premiere.

(Complaints about being "negative" coming from the poster who started the SHUT PIERRO DOWN thread? Okaaaaaaaaay.)

I think the You Can't Make this Stuff Up should be a permanent installation with an eternal flame next to it.

Bets,

Thanks for the kudos---Dave, I'm totally psyched about the installations you are planning---it will be a busy summer at Gallery 351! And I'll try to keep the volume down on my bumping 70's tunes! Being un-hip is the new black by the way. Hey, maybe I'm actually the new demographic? I mean I just moved in two years ago? Hmm?

Since you posted your address on the board, I'm wondering if you live two houses from the school? If so, you bought your house from someone I grew up with. Dave bought his house from the family of one of my brother's best friends!

JTA,

Yes---second house from the school---the Dennis family was the previous owners and I think a family named Corcoran or something like that before the Dennis's---now, I haunt the premises.

Please MOLers do not egg my house if I offend you online.

We knew the Corrigans! I think two of the children still live in town! Small world! So, no eggs? How about shaving cream?

We use to know a lot of families on that end of the street. I think most are gone now. I recently discovered my friends daughter has a couple friends at your end of the street. Do you happen to have any children?

Thanks for the keen interest in my background---nope, no kids, just me, holding court over Gallery 351. I guess that makes me an OINK (one income no kids)---maybe that's the new demographic???

Steve-
No problem! Actually classmates of my friend's child lives down your way. I thought you might have been one of their father's. Another classmate lives near me as well. There is yet another, who I've PLed when I recognized the phone number they posted when their dog got loose; but they didn't acknowledge my PL.
