At the last Board Of Trustees Meeting, Village Counsel seemed to state that the Village had met all of its affordable housing obligations regarding new construction by a payment to the City of Orange with monies realized from or otherwise connected with the Pulte (Quarry) project.

Counsel then went on to say that the Village still had obligations regarding rehabilitated housing.

Continuing on, Counsel reported that the most recent plan submitted to the Council On Affordable Housing (COAH) included property belonging to the South Orange Lawn Tennis Club and that the Club was objecting to the inclusion of its property in the plan submitted to COAH.

Does anyone know why property with no potential rehabilitation housing was included in the plan submitted to COAH by the Village? Is the Village considering condemning part of the property for the purpose of new construction by a private developer and then making another payment to the City of Orange (or other qualified municipality) to meet the Village rehabilitation obligation?

If the Village is getting ready to acquire more property, then this should be the subject of public discussion.
