At the BOT meeting, I think. Maybe they should keep the person a secret until the meeting, like they do their appointments. But they wouldn't do that since then there would not be a roomful of people there to clap or congratulate the recipient, and to throw laurels at the feet of the VP. No, they need this award ceremony to build a politcal constituency. I think its time to name an MOL Villager of the Month. My nominee is MHD for his untiring pursuit of accountability by our BOT. |

jayjay, I would agree with you about MHD but not only as an MOL VOTM, but I think as VOTM plain and simple. He is tenacious, obviously only wants the best for our town, is prepared to put himself out there to get the answers and get the results needed. He stands there meeting after meeting, only to be fobbed off and told to come back again, and why? His only motive is to see this town become what it can be. There is no personal financial gain. In all of this, he would benefit to the same level as the rest of us who live here. So if Villager of the Month is awarded to someone who has worked for the people of this town, then I expect someday to see him standing there... |

I couldn't agree more with your assessment of MHD and would be somewhat less jaded about this town if he was actually named as Villager of the Month (or, why not, Villager of the Year?)! |

So, Mark Rosner - how does one nominate a villager for this honor? This thread began with a question that has gone unanswered:

I thought LL answered your question bets. The community relations committee nominates the person to the BOT. In the past, I think the BOT agreed in every case but one over the last 7 years. Almost every June, the award goes to one or two students from CHS. The awards most often go to those who have done some type of community service or did something extraordinary to lead a volunteer effort. Feel free to contact the CRC if you want more information on how they select candidates or if you want to nominate someone.
