I read a little blurb in Saturday's Star Ledger the 'suspected' shooter from the incident near Grove Park has been arrested. I can't find the article online though. |

Thanks FSM. I guess I should have read that thread first. As Nancy mentioned it was in the New Jersey Section. For some reason I still can't find it online. |

Holloway nabbed in Virginia By Philip Sean Curran, Staff Writer Wednesday, June 14, 2006 5:12 PM EDT SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - A Union County man, wanted for the fatal shooting in South Orange, was arrested last week in Virginia. Naim Holloway, 28, will be brought back to New Jersey to face murder and related weapon charges, authorities said. Holloway, a resident of Union, fled New Jersey and eventually went south. Authorities tracked him down to an apartment complex in Newport News, Va., where he had been staying for at least a week with a woman. Authorities determined he had family there, said David Sacks, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service. Police identified him picking up a juvenile at a local elementary school on the afternoon of June 8. They followed him back to the apartment, according to authorities. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Newport News police moved in. Holloway was arrested without incident at approximately 3:15 p.m., authorities said. A search of the apartment did not turn up the handgun used in the shooting, according to authorities. South Orange Police Chief James M. Chelel said Tuesday that Holloway would have an extradition hearing in a Virginia court. He remains in a Virginia jail on $500,000 bail. Once he returns to New Jersey, Holloway will face charges that he killed a Newark man. Michael Mickle, 32, was shot at 3:46 p.m., down the street from police headquarters. He died later that day at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark. The reason for the shooting remains unclear. Holloway and Mickle belonged to the Bloods, a street gang, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said. Authorities do not believe that Holloway had an accomplice. “It appears he acted alone,” Chelel said. But authorities managed to unravel the case quickly. Two weeks after the shooting, they announced Holloway was their suspect. Last week, authorities recovered in Harrisburg, Pa., a green Ford Taurus registered to Holloway, Chelel said. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Holloway is charged with the following: murder; second-degree aggravated assault; second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose; and third-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
