The most arrogant, naive, absurd, political rationalization I have heard in a very long time.

Gentlepeople -- do you want more of this in South Orange - set your sights now, set your sights now for the future...

Taylor held up the vote on the parking authority appointment tonight because he didn't have all the resumes. Blah blah blah "fairness" etc.

The village clerk replied that she had sent them all and had the electronic receipt for same.

Response from Taylor "must be in email heaven"

bunch of balony --

/p

Pete you nailed it! I have no idea who Dan Jacobs is but it seems Taylor really can't stand him?

The board had voted 6 - 1 for Jacobs. Then aparently Taylor decided he didn't like that, with the convenient excuse "I didn't get the resume"

EVEN if he didn't get it, it would not matter -- given the 6 - 1 vote (AND that the other trustees had gotten it)

Complete political maneuvering. Using the cover of "fairness"

Later that Mr Rosen had a problem "downloading" attachments. But when Stacy called him on it -- she asked him didn't you email/ask anyone else then-- nope, he just let it go. Later he specifically asked for materials to be sent in hard copy.

ugh /p

Maybe Rosen is Buddhist and has given up all attachments?

The politics of this town are dirty, and Taylor found that out the hard way. He is the one who, in the last elections, lured Terriann on his racist camp with the promise of the African-American vote; he is the one who actively campaigned for her together with the local Democratic Committee which he chaired. And yesterday he saw that same Terriann, his protege, side against him with Mark and Eric, on an apparently important issue to all of them: the appointment of the PA commissioner.

Of course there is another political deal there cut between Mark and Terriann: Terriann would support Mark's choice (Jacobs) for the PA, if Mark would vote for Terriann's appointment to the Sewers Joint Meeting, which she wants so badly because its a paying position, and because her service there counts in years for her pension she will get as a County employee. Mark voted for her (she lost) and Terriann fights tooth-and-nail for Mark's protege.

It's all politics and self-interest.

But WHO is Dan Jacobs? I did a Google and can't find anything. It would be interesting to know what his qualifications are. What does it matter Taylor didn't get the information? It doesn't look as if his vote would change the outcome; would it?

My protege? I am sure that will be a surprise to Mr. Jacobs,a nice young man I have spoken with twice in the last year.
What would be my self-interest in trying to get someone who is qualified to be appointed to SOPA rather than sit by to watch a few try for another political appointment to a pretty improtant committee (which is what a couple of trustees tried to do recently).
There have been many times I have disagreed with Trustee Taylor, but I have always found him to be reasonable and open to discussion. What he did last night was wrong but no more wrong than your mud-slinging remark (racist camp). You could have made your point (even if you are wrong) without that comment.

I must add my two cents. I have been emailing Art Taylor about a volunteer project I'm willing to do to setup more adult recreational activities during the summer. Students on campus are willing to put it together (women's softball league, club volleyball) just to add some elements of "community building" etc. etc. These currently aren't offered for the adults. Anyways, 3 emails later I have still not heard back... He has generally been good with emails in the past but not this time around... not quite sure what to think.

lol talk-it-up you surely impress me with your ability to talk it up

I sent one final email tonight, next step podium...

I really do think some rec. services for the adult crowd would be fabulous in South Orange and costs virtually nothing... all you need is organizers and I've got that...

I just get a little frustrated when the BOT asks for volunteers.. etc. etc. etc. yet offers no support when volunteers step forward.

But I do know some women in Maplewood who are helping me as well (shared services) - we may inevitably end up working with the officials in Maplewood... it may be a heck of a lot easier.

Just to be fair - Art Taylor passed along my message to Andy Brady today and cced the rest of the trustees. So my message is no longer in heaven... I guess the term would be 'born-again'. I'll keep ya posted.

Out of curiosity what exactly is this position in the ‘Parking Authority’ responsible for?

Is this a paid position?

How many others have been appointed to this or a similar position in the “Parking Authority?”

Why is it coveted by anyone? I’m trying to understand the core motivation?
