Dont see why not. Sometimes they have special "metal" piles, but I think you should be ok.

(note, this post was made with no warranties, express or implied, should some small-minded town employee tell you no dice on the a/c).

They are considered hazardous until the Freon is removed for them.

I would be very surprised if they took them.

Do you know if there is a possibility of calling PW to get special permission to bring container day stuff NOT on a container day? We're never in town on container day and my garage is starting to look like Sanford and Son

On container day (there are about 6 from spring till fall), there are DPW employees stationed at recycling center to check your SO ID & help dispose of materials, as well as trucks positioned just to dispose of stuff. Since that doesn't exist the rest of the year, I would be very surprised if you could make an alternative arrangement. You can bring all metal items to center at any time.

There are a number of people who you can call for rubbish removal. Fred Hodges is very reasonable and a nice guy 908 688 2911 cell 908 907 3379

Thanks so much! I call Public works, they do take them but oddly prefer them to come on any old day, not container days! Thanks for all of your help.

Are there specific do's and don'ts for container day posted somewhere? I've got bags and bags of foam packing materials filling up my garage from all the overpackaging my furniture was shipped in when I moved here. Does that fit the bill, or is it more household stuff like furniture and other oddities you couldn't theoretically get rid of on trash day?

Under container days, you can click where indicated to see what is permissible and what is not.

Thank you! I always count on MOL being more helpful (and infinitely easier) than actually calling the authority in question, and so far I haven't been wrong!

Plastic Peanuts may be taken to any mailboxes, etc or UPS store. Just check before you send. Also, I believe Crate and Barrel will take them back as well.

I called Public works last week to ask if it is ok to take an old toilet and sink to container day. The SO website says "no construction materials" but I'm hoping that doesn't pertain to my heavy old porcelain. Does anyone happen to know? Thanks!
