Some kind of Prom Night invasion or what? We were going to drive by to just check it out, but it was too crazy. J.B. |

Thanks, I was just about to ask about this. I thought the letter we got said that today was CHS graduation and there would be 500 to 700 people taking photos in the park afterwards. This gave me the impression it would be all caps and gowns and stuff, so I was really surprised to see everyone so dressed up (and, in a few cases, overdressed up). It wasn't too bad, I saw one group of guys being videotaped by the cops and then one of them was arrested right in front of my house, but they weren't dressed up and really didn't look like they belonged. Between the videotaping and the arrest, that group dispersed really early on and everyone else seemed to have a happy and pretty peaceful time. Definitely a real show going on, lots of fancy cars and one couple that arrived in (but didn't leave in) a big horse drawn carriage. Looks like last year MOLers were complaining that no one told the police or residents in advance. I can say that definitely wasn't the case this year, we were warned a few weeks ago that our street would be closed and there was a clear police presence (see the aforementioned arrest). What I don't get though is why they posted temporary NO PARKING signs, closed the street, and then let cars in anyway, where they just parked on the side of the road that you're normally not supposed to park on anyway, and the ones that couldn't find parking had to turn around in driveways or back out. Other than that it was a pretty ok couple of hours, the rain helped bring the event to a close right when the police expected everyone to leave anyway. |

It was definitely easier to get around, and it looked a whole lot more organized- good job! |

Maybe that's where the teenage boys were going after buying tubing & funnels at Home Depot(for a "science project" - I heard them asking where something was)... |

Actually, the Grove Park congregation is just before the Prom, not graduation. Doulamomma, while I hesitate to ask, what is the tube and funnel used for? |
