Bill, we are still waiting for your State of the Village 2005! Can you beat your 2004 report? "John Choi has been named as the grocery store operator. Under his 30-year lease agreement, he will open the market by Christmas 2005." "After months of working out the terms of the agreement we finally signed in early fall 2004. Jon W. Choi, President South Orange Market Place" From the South Orange Village Charter: 4.4 Powers and Duties; Generally. The Village President shall: (a) Report annually in writing to the Board of Trustees on the condition of the village, and the work of the previous year; (b) Recommend to the Board of Trustees whatever action or programs he deems necessary or desirable for the village and the welfare, of its residents; (c) Have such other executive powers and duties as the Charter may provide or as the Board of Trustees may by ordinance prescribe. |

I have no idea why it is being held back... I can only imagine that if we were full of joys and had underway, completed projects etc, then the VP like any of us, we would be happy to have reported it at the earliest opportunity, but there doesn't seem to be much that they can boast about and in fact there are probably going to be people with facts and figures from prior reports ready and waiting to point out all the items not done, never started, stalled etc etc. This is to be expected and I feel that from an open government and accountability standpoint this should be expected and should indeed happen. I am not one of those people as I cannot get my head anywhere around all of this, all I see are the signs and the torn down lots, and hear at the meetings reasons and so on why things are stalled or otherwise not progressing. So purely my guess/opinion, shout from the rooftops when things are good, and wait until the last minite if things are less than hoped for...but by which time, there are more people waiting to hear what you have to say..
