Rastro, what are you talking about? Everyone should fight their own battles. It's a cold world. Deal with it. |

Glock: What are you talking about? What about armies? What about the Crusades? What about "these band of brothers"? What about seconds in a duel? What about the Hatfields and McCoys? People have always joined together to fight other's battles. It's part of the human condition -- though I suspect some animals also engage in similar behavior. |

Should everybody else care, if one elected official makes a disparaging comment, about one business in his community? It depends on your philosophy, I guess. No man is an island, Entire of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, A part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less. As well as if a promontory were. As well as if a manor of thine own Or of thine friend's were. Each man's death diminishes me, For I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee. - John Donne Disparaging anybody, diminishes everyone. |

Well they blew up the Chicken Man in Philly last night, Yeah they, blew up his house too. Down on the boardwalk they're getting ready for a fight, gonna see what them racket boys can do. Well there's, trouble bussin in from out of state, and the D.A. can't get no relief. gonna be a rumble down on the promenade, and the gambling commission is hanging on by the skin of it's teeth. -B.S. |

Erin and Glock Did it ever occur to either of you those of us sticking up for Blaze and Leslie are doing so because WE WANT TO AND WE CHOOSE TOO!!! Nobody asked us to come to their defense. We did because we care about them and know they are decent people. Leslie's business does not deserve to be slammed by our Village President; someone I've been stupid enough to vote for every time he has run. I know Bill knows who I am in real life and I have to say I've gone from having a lot of respect for him to having absolutely NONE! He couldn't even admit he was W-R-O-N-G!!! Your half-arszh apology was a joke. Why not watch the video? If you do you can see and hear with your own eyes you did in fact say something that you know is a down right lie! For that, you owe Leslie an apology! With Trustee Jennings, I wasn't stupid enough to vote for her. But in my opinion, she is a disgrace. If you have a personal problem with Blaze, then deal with Blaze, don't take it out on his wife. And don't abuse your power as a Trustee to attempt to get even with Blaze! |

Matt - I'm just an interloper from Maplewood. Make sure your town doesn't qualify for this Springsteen lyric -Now the sweet bells of mercy Drift through the evening trees Young men on the corner Like scattered leaves The boarded up windows The empty streets While my brother's down on his knees My city of ruins |

I'm wondering why some people seem to have it in for the owners of Bunny's. I'm wondering who would benefit if Bunny's were to be driven out of business. I find it curious that a prosperous business among empty stores is a target for slanderous remarks--not that anyone believes those remarks. Follow the money. |

Matt - Last one:There's a lot of people leaving town now Leaving their friends, their homes At night they walk that dark and dusty highway all alone Well Papa go to bed now it's getting late Nothing we can say can change anything now Because there's just different people coming down here now and they see things in different ways And soon everything we've known will just be swept away |

Sheena To add on to what you posted Wednesday, July 12, 2006 - 3:23 pm, It's even worse when a long standing productive business that gives back to the community is unjustifiably (not sure if this is the correct word to use) attacked by the same elected officials that allow other businesses to cause our town to look the wreck it does. |

Driven out of business? I often wonder if the folk who take pot shots at Bunnys have ever spent a good amount of time there (or any time at all). b/c if they did, they would enjoy a great "community" of people that have a good time together and appreciate one another for who they are. Painting the resteraunt as a racist establishment could'nt be further from the truth. It actually smacks of the ridiculously sublime. WARNING: stereotypical white guy statement to follow... I made a great friend at Bunnys a couple of years ago. I am 30+ and white, he is 40+ and black. Now we share Yankee season tix together, we go out on the town together, we are like peas and carrots. The point is we made a connection talking over way too many one night and realized we had a lot in common. Oh my gosh! we never thought to rule one another out as a buddy based on race or age differance. A good friend was made at Bunnys that would never have happened unless. |

Matt Foley, that is a touching story. Maybe you can make a childrens pop-up book about it. You are right though. The only people who would claim that bunny's is a racist establishment are people who have never bothered to go in there. |

I think that's true. I wouldn't go to Bunny's if it weren't a fun place where people from all corners of the world and all walks of life can get together. I also don't think Stacey Jennings is a racist. We shouldn't make enemies of people we haven't met because they might be nice and thoughtful and simply got the wrong idea about us based on assumptions that aren't correct.

Joel, frankly, I know you just want this to go away. Unfortunately, one of the "visions" of our village president is a "special improvement district" for *some* businesses in South Orange. I will defend Bunny's to the bitter end rather than allow this band of clowns to have *any* control or oversight over the Pogany's business. Beifus has been around for some years and has been an eyesore for many years. Bunny's is a viable and vibrant business which welcomes any citizens, regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, or any other possible human being into their restaurant, as patrons or employees. They have the right to refuse service to anyone; that should never be held against them by the town in which they do business. So, this will remain an issue until the SID is dropped or, if passed, it is monitored closely. You had left the meeting before I spoke, I believe. You were not there for Stacey Jennings' comment that "they're a racist business." It's outrageous and it has to stop! Behave with some decorum, Board of Trustees! Please! |
