You want to know the REAL reason the BOT does not want a referendum on the ballot? Because they know the residents will vote it down!!! What a bunch of morons we have on our BOT!!!

Exatly! That's why I made the comment I did. What did you think of the reason why the 'Open Space' can be put to the vote, but not Tau? I especially couldn't believe when it was said the BOT ***can*** put a referendum on the ballot IF they wanted. Other then that, they would have to be presented with 2,500 signatures. I can't wait for MHD, Howard and the others to get home to post. I only got to see part of the meeting. I'd love to know what happened before Jennings went into her tirade! Did she actually called Blaze a racist, now? Unfreakingreal. I can't ever remember the town being more divided then it is now. |

JTA, I do like & respect Janine Bauer a great deal. However, I do not understand why ONE person requests a referendum for a tax increase and gets one, yet multiple people (not to mention 1000 signatures on a petition) request a referendum to decide on spending money for Tau (that costs taxpayers more than twice as much as the open space referendum) and the BOT refuses. Incredible! |

What I perceive to be their desire for increasing the Open Space Trust funding is a way to subsidize the lack of funds - both Operating and Capital for maintenance of portions of our infrastructure. I do not agree with this concept. There needs to be a clear definition for what these funds can be used and a structure for public comment/input - Advisory Board with independent reporting of all activities - financial and project related. |
