When I peeked through the window, it looked like restaurant with a huge open grill, outdoor dining in the back, etc. Anyone got the scoop? Seems nice! |

Hopefully the government will promote this new business. Do any of the village elders know? jd |

A guy purchased both the art store and the old comic book store. He opened them up. It's going to be a cafe/restaurant type place. It's coming out really nice. Nice decor, nice granite, the walls were taken down to show the original brick and a waterfall thingy. The lighting looks nice too. At one point he hopes to have some entertainment in there. Also he's redoing the whole back area for outdoor dining. The doors leading outside are more than a hundred years old, from an old barn or something and completely restored. I'm really exited about this place, can't wait. |

...here's the scoop Shanabana, and it's way beyond nice, I think it's really great! The new business is called "Terence Allen Eatery" 10 Sloane Street, South Orange. Terence Palmaffy is a young energetic Executive Chef who along with the help of his dad, a talented local Maplewood contractor, has built an exciting new venue right in the heart of South Orange Village, a dinning place for all ages and all seasons... Bring your lap top, have lunch, dinner, or just pick up some eggs, bread, or a quart of milk to take home. Much of what you eat there will also be available for sale. You can listen to cool music, sit inside or out, or schedule your own private party. Everything is prepared in front of you, or help yourself to the fresh salad bar, home made soups, and other daily specials. Close your eyes, open your mouth, and you'll think eating in New York. I first hired Terence 10 years ago for Maplewood Rotary's first "Affair of the Heart" dinner dance. His successful catering business has now taken a major step forward and we wish him the very best of luck and success in the years to come. An opening is planned for the end of the month...

Thanks Art! Does he specialize in any special food? Will he have a liquor license? I can't wait to try out a new local place with entertainment! |

This is a very exciting development. The Palmaffys are a strong family in this area... Susan Palmaffy may be known to many as a local RE agent with very good reputation (she was our buyers' agent). I believe Tyce Palmaffy created the custom cabinetry in our kitchen (before we bought the place -- anyway Susan thought it was his work). Can't wait for this place to open and hope it will have a good selection for vegetarians!

We love to walk into town for dinner, so it's a plan (except when it's 90 degrees!)
