I've got a one year old. I think it's too hot to go to the pool at this point and while I love the Montclair art museum, we've already seen the current exhibits. Anyone have suggestions for air conditioned things to do in our area with a small child?

It's never too hot for the pool, in my opinion.

Imagine That in Florham Park.

Ice cream store!!!! (ok, that is more for me than the kids).

Livingston Mall. Build-a-bear, little rides.

Short Hills Mall - Johnny Rockets and throwing coins in the big ball fountain (bring a lot of coins).

Grocery shopping. Give the kid a bagel and stay cool.

for a one year old: wiggles and giggles on rte. 10. they have open play on occasional afternoons.

if you don't mind driving, there are a bunch of fun indoor children's museums in nj...but some are up to an hour drive away, but then you can spend hours there!

i love making tents in the house and having frozen pops.
fill a few small bowls of water and let them go at it....
painting with icecream....
.swimming in the tub with unsual toys like dish sponges....add some plastic plates cups and spoons and have them wash the dishes in the tub....
.paint with ur feet....
.cut out pictures and have the child tape them on the window (that lasts for hours)
ice cube races- each take an icecube and push them off the table(like a race car) ....
.play with frozen peas....
.pull out funky clothes from ur closet and play dress up......
let them brush their teeth in a diffrent bathroom

I think going to the movies can be fun for kids. But, for a one-year-old? SouthOrangeNanny sounds like she has some cool ideas.
