Not sure if this is affecting any other areas, but on Riggs Pl. this morning wooden stakes with paper signs had been stapled on trees or driven into the grass all along both sides of the street. I was on my way to the train, but if I remember correctly, the signs said "NO PARKING -- TOW AWAY ZONE -- S.O. Police Dept." There was no date posted, and the signs were placed at about a house-length apart. Now, we park our car on the street, as we do not have a driveway. So do many others homeowners on Riggs. What is this regarding? Where should I move my car? Anyone? |

I can't help you, but my instinct would be to call the Police Dept and ask. (973) 378-7772 |

Pdg, Apparently it is paving related. I don't know, maybe it's just me -- call me crazy -- but wouldn't it be clearer, if you're making paper signs, to put in "PAVING ROAD TODAY: please move cars off this street," or something like that? I'm pretty good at following directions, I just need to be informed why there is a Tow-Away Zone outside of my house this morning! Thanks. |

I agree, more information is definitely better than less! It certainly would help people change their feelings about the parking inconvenience. For instance, I'm sure you're happy about your street being repaved (hopefully it won't just be painted black with the goo they did our street with a couple years ago - it looks pretty for a few months and then the pot holes are back after one winter of plowing.) Where'd they tell you to park in the meantime? |

They left a notification on our door the day before. Maybe yours blew away? |

Sorry, just saw this. If there was a notice posted near the door, we have a screened-in porch, and I didn't see it anywhere in there. But I'm glad at least there WAS a notice somewhere for someone. The P.D. didn't tell me where to park, but I asked if Gardner was alright (around the corner) and they said it was fine. According to my wife, the crews did not start today. |

Over here on Meadowbrook Lane, we got tags on the door Mon and Tues and faithfully moved our cars out of the way. As of this morning, the work had still not been done, no more door tags, just No Parking signs (and the street sweeper coming through at 5 a.m....). Coming soon? |

I don't think they have signs printed up for every job, I think they may buy them in bulk, which would make it hard for them to be very specific about why there is no parking. They use the same signs for construction, paving, large events (think the Prom function at Grove park) and other events that I really can't think of right now because of the heat (sorry). |
