On Friday, saw the massive crane and actual movement of major steel beams... Since no one else has mentioned it, I thought I would. |

The question is - have any of the contractual details been completed? >Have the easements been cleared? >Have the properties been transferred? ...If so, how was it structured? .....Split into two sales: .....- Garden Of Eden - food market .....- Sterling - condo's ........If so, is the Pilot still valid? ...If so, has any monies been transferred? |

I am nearly positive that they are constructing a mammoth, permanent "Coming Soon" sign. |

notehead, that is a good guess. I would agree but I think they will put up some beams and then hang a small "coming soon" sign from the half finished beams as construction grinds to a halt on the large permanent signage. |

That site has a huge pit in the middle with a fence surrounding the perimeter of the parking lot. The fence is supposed to be locked but every morning I ride the train to NYC and notice that the gate is wide open. Huge hazard and liability for the owner of the site. |

It seems like there's alot of work going on at the Shop Rite and SOPAC. Is the firehouse on deadline? I would like to take my kids by sometime. |

Looks like McCheese nailed this one. Just heard the announcement that work on the permanent Coming Soon sign has been temporarily halted while the BOT considers approving a $12-million redesign. Apparently, the original plan called for a sturdy, 75-foot tall structure with lettering in 8-point Helvetica at the top. At some point earlier today, somebody realized that this might not be quite visible enough, so between 5:00 and 6:00 this afternoon there will be a $250,000 feasibility study by as-yet-unnamed "experts" to determine whether or not making the lettering 24-point in size will solve this dilemma, which the BOT assures us was quite unpredictable. To allay any fears that the permanent Coming Soon sign will not be coming so soon, a paper "Coming Soon" sign will be hung on it, along with cheerful colored streamers, provided by a brother-in-law of one of the BOT members to the town for the paltry price of $472,000. The BOT assures us that the actual, permanent Coming Soon sign will be "definitely" completed by "Monday, at the very latest, or possibly sometime in 2065." |

No worries, notehead....I heard the sign is a gift. On second thought, I just realized, it is just the rights to make the sign, but it's still a gift. Oh, wait...actually, I just found out that the money is coming from a Grant and won't cost the taxpayers anything. Nevermind, I just heard it was coming from a bond for sidewalk improvements, but don't worry this counts as sidewalk improvements because the sign is near a sidewalk. |

Maybe they are digging for oil. With oil prices now-a-days, why not dig and take a shot? It worked for the Beverly Hillbillies. |

Actually, I think they are going to build a Coming Soon sign that can be seen from the space station. We could be known as the Outer Space Town. We could build a space center here, and hope people come to see it. There has got to be an astrophysicist in town, We could dedicate it to him/her. Heck, we could raise money for it, and any leftovers could be used to send Columbia kids to space camp so they can learn what it's like to be an astronaut. |

No Rastro, even on the space station, our town is the Incomplete Casino, as SOparents so astutely observed. |
